Please dont go cheap, I have seen alot ot mounts that look great at first site and then years later are falling apart. I have several mounts that are 10-15 yes old and look like they were done yesterday. I paid a nice price for them but they will look good for 30 yrs. All mine have been done by Wilkerson taxidermy in Dyersburg.

Buck McAlpin is by far the best taxidermist there is. There is no comparison among local taxidermists. Like Andy and others have stated, make your deposit, and stay in contact with him. Yes, he is busy and has alot of work. I've known him personally most of my life and cannot describe how much pride he takes in his work. His mounts look absolutely alive when he is finished. They are perfect. IMHO, if he will not do my work, I would just assume to not have the deer mounted at all. Buck is a great guy, and I'm glad to know him and be a customer of his.

David Smith, outside Jackson, does excellent work.
I paid for my 9lb bass and duck in full upfront. The bass I got back in 3 weeks and the duck was about 6 weeks.
My bass still looks amazing... I get compliments all the time.
My buddy's mom hit a big velvet buck and after calling TWRA they told him to let Buck know it was ok for him to take and to call if he had an issue. He had it back in 9 months but we needed a cape. The velvet still looks just as good as it did when it was dropped off.
He has a big problem with people not paying. I def recommend paying half down or maybe all but $50 on a deer.

Does anyone know what became of Denton Shearon? He did a full strut turkey for me back in '04. Took about a year to get it but it still looks great with the exception of what the neighbors kid did to some of the feathers.

I've used Randy Bateman in Ripkey Ms a few times over the last couple years. After it took Hataway over three years to finish one, I had to quit using him. Hataway's work was always great and Randy Bateman's work is just as good. Randy told me that he will come cape my deer out for me at my house due to the new law.

Last I heard he's moved to Ky doing safari mounts. He's mounted several deer for me but will never do another! He recently let several capes ruin and didn't tell the customers. He mounted my 147" 10pt on a 1-1/2yr old cape. I got it back and immediately took it to John Sawyer with Reelfoot Taxidermy. Denton owes several of my friends money and mounts. He's had several friends deer and such for years. One of the best around as far as quality but a crook to deal with! Pm me and I'll give you his number!Greentimber":1otof4hn said:

Delta quest taxidermy Luke turned my deer around in 4 and half months and by far the best work I've had done want use anyone else his located about a hour from memphis in Jonesboro,AR
Quick and cheap would scare me and more so the quick part.
He was living in north Jackson, off Plainsfield dr.

Nature's Legacy in Hornsby, Tim Rixie. I don't know the price off the top of my head but it's around $500 but the guy loves it and puts a lot of work into each mount.
