What’s your footwear choice for turkeys?

If I'm in the woods mostly and its dry, I have a pair of $50 hiking boots I got at Dunhams three years ago that I love. They actually did pretty good at keeping water out, but have lost some of that now.

If I need waterproof from heavy dew in fields or crossing a lot of creeks, then I have a pair of the Lacrosse Alpha Lites. But, they make my feet sweat BAD, so its like I've been walking in water anyway.

I've only encountered a snake 3 times in over 30 yrs of hunting, so I've never really seen the need for snake boots. But, there was that one time where I had to cross about 50 yards of thigh-high ferns in a bottom where they would have given me peace of mind. I was high stepping like a running back going through there.

I hunt around a lot of water...one morning stopped to listen for a gobbling bird about 18" from where this fellow was sunning himself. Never saw him til he slid off into water.

Irish Setter Vaprtrek, extremely lightweight and you can feel what's underfoot before committing all your weight, such as limbs and sticks. Was worried about no support and house shoe like soles as I'm 260ish, wasn't a problem, they work great. If I remember right, they run small and I had to go up a size.

Spur,
I have the 17" pull on type...leather bottom and heavy cordura top with short buckles around the calf and across the upper arch. Brand new out of the box I mink oiled the heck out of the lowers and any leather components like straps and trim. Once a year I hit them with a little silicone spray. Camp Dry spray I think.

Heavy dew is no problem and high creek crossing also no issue whatsoever. For the last few years my feet just plain aint got wet.
Thanks man!

Lacrosse Alpha Pro usually. My main place has a couple of creeks, so I kind of have to wear knee boots there.

Otherwise I prefer a pair of Under Armour boots that are several years old. They're very light and comfortable.
