What bow are you hunting with this year?

08 Hoyt Katera. Max range 35 yards. I might try 40 if the deer is calm, feeding with head down, broadside or quartering away!

Single pin set at 25 yds.
Carbon Express Maxima Hunters.
Grimm reaper Razorcuts.

I don't take shots on Deer beyond 35 yds.
It's difficult to wait until the 26th.

Have you shot your bow with a crono to know the speed you are getting?

I imagine my 60# Dren is slower,but I wonder by how much.
Also what is your arrow and broad head weights?

Last time I chroned the bow it was a pinch over 295fps with a 335grn target arrow. If my memory serves me right.

I have since put new string and cables on the bow and got everything back in spec..........

So my hunting arrows come in around 380grn that's with a 100gn broad head.

I'd say I'm getting 275-280 out of it now. just my best educated guess without chroning it.

I practice at 40 and feel comfortable shooting that distance as long as the animal is not spooked.
