What bow should i invest in....

Find bows in that price range and shoot them. Then buy the one that fits you and makes you want to shoot it again and again.

Do you want new or used? Does that $400 need to buy accessories too?

one that fits you well, and something that works for you, not something that you hope will impress your buddies

Thats right one that fits. Impress them with your shooting. Seen it a MILLION TIMES. Hey check this cool bow out...watch me shoot...hey, did you see where my arrow went?

What draw length and draw weight are you looking for ? There are allot of nice used bows on archerytalk.com or you can go to your local proshop and try a few new bows that fit you and your budget .
PSE makes several nice mid price bows.

Agree.
Shoot a lot of bows to find what you like, and what size fits you.
Then shop AT for that bow, used.
Best way to buy a very good bow in that price range.

AT has a lot of listings, and a lot of bows are sold there.
That is where I found my Drenalin.
Paid half price of a new one.

Spend some time looking, and had to be sure the bow was in good shape. Don't want to buy a bow that has problems.
I was lucky enough to find the bow I wanted from some people that bought their Son a bow as a gift. He shot it a few times, and decided he did not want to bow hunt.

You may want to try the same method.
I bought the bow bare, and added everything I wanted.

Check AT every day,and you will find a good used one.
Good luck, and don't forget to buy what fit's you.

Just to give some names I would look into the PSE brute, pse stinger, or kronik at BPS.

Remember you are going to drop close to 150-200 more before all is said and done on arrows, release, target, broadheads, ect.

this is why so many archery shops are closing. people go to the shop and waste their time shooting bows to see what they want and then buying online.

I agree, it can be bad for bow shops.
However, I took my bare bow to a Mathews dealer, and he installed everything. I ended up paying the shop for add on's more than I paid for the bare bow on AT.
And I do all of my buying of other hunting products from this same shop.
The dealer told me he was fine with me buying a used bow.
I bought a lot of stuff from him,and paid him for his time installing all of it.
Win-Win JMO and his.

I was not implying to test shoot bows at a propshop , then buy a used bow off AT. I mentioned the option of buying a USED bow OR going to a propshop and check out their lineup of NEW bows .

I would shop archerytalk for sure. I found my parker blackhawk for practically nothing, and it had everything, from doinker stabilizer to G5 sites.....and a pronghorn fallaway rest. Trust me there is deals to be found and made on that site..lol

I dont really agree with the fact that this is why shops are going out of business, its just that most local shops dont want to cut you any kinda of deal, they want to get rich off one guy...UNLESS your that special friend that can do something for them. My opinion...either way the more people with bows the more people are hunting and the more people are contributing to our great sport....

Never mind!

YoungBuck, Good luck! There are lots of options to look at in that price range. Try to look and hold as many as possible. Some of the local shops may even have a couple of used or consignment bows to look at. But at the price range you are looking at you can find several really nice bows, and don't have to take a back seat to anyones setup.
