Does Heupel do in the offseason? I sure hope he gets an offensive coordinator
Might want to be less predictable. Yall got smoked because OSU predicted everything yall were gonna do.Does Heupel do in the offseason? I sure hope he gets an offensive coordinator
While I agree, he needed them in pass blockingOne thing I think was lacking was the use of tight ends being used as receivers.
You said a mouthful there. I REALLY like the guy and am thankful of who he is as a person as well as coach. He represents UT very well and with much class. But he is loyal to a fault. He likes sticking with his "family" of coaches and I don't expect him to fire/replace anyone. All we can do is wait for the undesirables to leave on their own I'm afraidI am afraid he is too stubborn to do anything.
In all honesty Heupel does a decent job recruiting some top talent. What he does NOT do is develop that talent and he does NOT develop debth in back up roles.I am afraid he is too stubborn to do anything. I think there will be an offseason of working hard on the "little things" that are bogging them down. Meanwhile, most of the world can call out the play they are running as soon as they get to the line.
I've lived through long periods of poor rosters and inept coaching (including many years of Majors) so I am pretty content with where Heupel has taken my Vols. He seems to recruit a pretty good class of kids that represent the university very well. I will never again take a ten win season for granted.
But, I also don't expect to see another NC in my lifetime.

Example ? When Dylan Sampson when out 3 min in the 1st quarter against OSU the vols had no answer to fill his role. No REAL answer . Did that lead to the curb stomping and smoking the vols received? I doubt it. OSU seemed to know everything the vols were doing from the get go and were on fire.
Until the vols can start recruiting 4 and 5 years of top 5 recruiting classes like ALABAMA, Georgia, OSU , and some other Elite schools it's gonna remain the same. Rinse and repeat. vols can bang on their chest all they want about back doorimg their way into the playoffs this year but it took 5 teams loosing for them to get there and it took a 12 team format for them to get there. No great accomplishment and clearly they were not ready for the big league and not prepared or ready for it.
I don't think his very young offensive coordinator can process and call things quickly enough for them to play with that type of tempo. And, unfortunately, I don't see that improving.Get back to playing with more tempo on offense. Apparently "gimmicky" worked.
Sampson had a hamstring injury. 2 carries. In all honesty Heupel does a decent job recruiting some top talent. What he does NOT do is develop that talent and he does NOT develop debth in back up roles.

On tempo, yes I think Golesh was better than Halzle as OC but people are severely sleeping on Hendon Hookers role in said tempo we ran that yearI don't think his very young offensive coordinator can process and call things quickly enough for them to play with that type of tempo. Maybe Vandy can give yall losers some recruiting advise for next year. Just a thought. If they don't surely you have someone at Oklahoma that obviously knows a thing or 3.In all honesty Heupel does a decent job recruiting some top talent.
