looking at the score threads it seems some are not too interested in participating in the turkey contest....I thought we were to have a weekly talley so everyone could keep up with how it was going....After looking thru the teams score threads several teams only have 3 or less replies..makes for a very boring contest with no smack talk at all......Thanks to my VDM brothers and sister, Team Alabama, RNG, and MIA for at least keeping it somewhat interesting.....
 
I agree Roost....i posted a similar thread about a halftime report but it didnt take idk what to think except folks waiting later to see if their next bird is better.
 
I'm still in and still trying. I never have got in on the smack talk much, even on old gobbler. I had a feeling a lot would loose interest. Especially, if they didn't post much and were just put on a team with no one they knew. Although I've never met a single member of VDM in person, I've been on the team since before it was VDM, so I know them in a sense. That may not be what's happen but it kinda looks that way. As long as a few teams are still sticking with it, it can still be a good contest.
 
Some people are waiting to post their scores, I have heard. Me I only posted the score of one bird and that was #2 my biggest. I have one tag left and will see what he scores, I'm honestly not too worried about score cause I'm using the bow now
 
I am sure the guys on our team are hunting hard and holding out for their best bird before they submit their scores. I am in till the end. Congrats to all the teams so far!!
 
I have tried to participate more but honestly it turned out too regulated for what I thought was going to be a loose event. I dont like being scolded for putting a comment in the wrong thread, etc.
 
Kinda takes away from the contest if nobody knows what they're playing against!

Roost I think the contest rules say the duties of the captains are to keep a weekly total posted!

That only works if the team under them takes the time to turn in an entry.... That very same issue killed a few teams chances in other forum contests.
 
This contest is ran off of the honor system unless you kill a multible bearded turkey, then special pictures apply. My bad on not looking at the sample pics, but i know of two birds that got Disqualified for one reason or another, mine included. Once again, my bad, not any body's fault but mine. The honor system should apply evenly, not just for certain birds in the future. You run it the way you want to. I know several people on the team i was on said they werent entering thier birds either because my four bearded turkey got disqualified. Less competition to the rest of the teams i suppose.
 
We got plenty of nice birds but choose not to enter!! With that being said I am shaking my head at all the 7/8 spurs being listed as 1 1/8 after the pic clearly shows what the length really is!! And not a thing being said about it!!

Ok, you stated you didn't read the rules for multi bearded birds. Clearly state it's your fault. Why are your teammates not posting pics? Do they think an illegal bird should be counted or did they not take the required pics for their own birds? I don't understand why they won't post just because you didn't read the rules. A lot of multi bearded birds have been killed with correct pics taken.
 
Mine was the first multi beard posted. Like i said i didnt read that there were special rules for a multi beard. Not complaining about being DQed. The rules are what they are. I think the pic showing them coming out of the skin is silly. I was entered by someone else. I didnt even know about it until a few days before the season. I have no control if others dont enter nor did i try to get them not to enter. I have no problem or hard feelings with grizzly. Honor system should be used but it is a challenge to mix it with hard proof beyond doubt. I aplaud him for taking on the task of a contest. Let me assure you, my turkey was not illegal. He is a legit four bearded turkey. The pics werent up to code but the bird dam sure was.

Agree.....no need to throw whole team out cause a bird was DQ'd and also guilt of said violation was admitted to end of story kill another bird....u have problems with others pics contest it to Grizzly thats how id go about it.....instead looks like a "fine we're taking our ball and going home :(" moment
 
I didnt throw the team out. I dont even know but one of them and jbird is not the one i know. I havent said anything negative at all. Im not having a moment. Not even sure what tou are talking about?

I have nothing against you hillbilly. Just to set it straight, when I said illegal I was referring to it as an entry to the contest not an illegal kill. I have no doubt you killed it legally. As for the first multi bearded bird, I'm fairly certain that Team AL posted multi beards before you. If not, I apologize. I just didn't get why a whole team won't post pics when this contest has nothing at stake. It's just for fun. Another way to show off our kills. Maybe a little bit of bragging rights. :)
