What did you put in for?

My Grandfather only killed one buck his whole life. A 3 point Buck off of Catoosa in 1995. Over the years we never saw a buck or even heard a shot. First they cut out the either sex gun Hunt then sat up antler restrictions. We thought it was because Catoosa had no Deer and they wanted the population to grow. Years later, Still have Antler restictions. If you hike in off a road, 30 minutes later, you'll come out to another gravel road. I haven't hunted there since the late 90's. Never saw any Deer and if you did, It had to be 8 or better. Why would I hunt where there was no Deer when I could be on a lease somewhere and actually see Deer? That is the question. I've enjoyed Hiwassee Refuge and Oak Ridge, except for the idiots who don't know what a flashing light means when you flash it at them when they walk in on you in the dark.

We had a family friend that had a good "spot" there. Killed several Deer . After that tornado went through a few years back, He never saw another Deer in the area. The storm destroyed the area he hunted.

They stopped the doe hunts because the numbers were really low. Another factor on catoosa the last 10 yea has been the outrageous number of hogs. Now that a substantial number of hogs have been exterminated I think the numbers will rebound. There are still a lot of deer on Catoosa and some really big deer but you have to hunt the laurel thickets and most people don't like to. And when that many people rush in for the 3 day hunt is honestly think the deer become really weary. There are some real big deer there.

PI. Wish I'd started several years ago but I've always been fortunate enough to have a good place to hunt and never messed with the draws.

I am glad to see so few if any apply for the Ensley Unit. May-be I'll get drawn this year. :) It will be my third time if I do.

I just put in for Oak Ridge. The 12/13-12/14 hunt. My first time doing a quota hunt so I figured something close.

Good luck man....Ive had that hunt twice. Killed a doe on Poplar Creek last year. Not many bucks taken last year in that hunt for the archery hunys. Itll be Chestnut Ridge and the 1st and 2nd hunts for me hopefully.

Speaking of Yuchi....how many points does it take usually? Youth and adult.

you can usually draw a bowhunt with 1 point. muzzleloader or gun takes more. not sure about the kids.

Yep. They really messed it up when they set a limit on priority points. I was maxed out and then people that had already been drawn caught up to the limit and we're getting drawn again before me. Pisses me off. Hope this is the yr
