I'm a huge fan of the 7mm-08 round. Tack driver. Good killer. My all weather is a ruger Hawkeye in a……. You guessed it , 7mm-08. Hehehhee
I had a 700 Mountain rifle in 30-06 from that era. I miss it.Remington 700 in 30-06 circa 1990's with a Zeiss Conqest scope

I need to stop seeing this rifle. I picked up the b14 hmr 300wm and just picked up vortex pst gen II 5-25x50 ffp for it. That MG lite is a nice rifle that packs up great.I won't be deer hunting much but will be taking this Bergara Premier MG Lite in 300 WM with Trijicon Tenmile to CO for elk. Total weight under 8 1/2 lbs and a folding butt stock will pack in nicely.View attachment 150238
Let me tell you, I am not a chassis guy at all but this one is different because it's so light. It will be great to have it folded up and lashed to my pack when hiking in or out in the dark.I need to stop seeing this rifle. My go to is an old Remington 788 chambered in 308. There's a lot of good guns and calibers out there, just what I am comfortable withWhat's the ONE gun that you have 100% confidence in and grab when it's rifle season.
Mine - Remington 700 in .243 topped with a Vortex Diamondback 3-9x40 - not fancy, but she's my huntin buddy.
