I have used my laptop in the past, but the battery is dead, I hate to spend money for new one - I use it on my desk plugged in. Besides, it's so big and bulky, and it is hard to see the pics in the field with the laptop. I tried a picture viewer one time, but it was so slow in pulling up pics to view, it would take all day.

What are you guys using to view pics in the field? Any suggestions?

Digital camera....easy as it gets. Buy SD Cards cheap online so if I want to pull a card I can leave another.

Some digital cameras can be used. My advice, take a memory card with trail cam pics on it to a pawn shop, stick the card in alot of different cheap cameras to see which one it shows up best on, and use that one. Of course try it in the cameras you already have first.

I needed a new laptop for other things, so I bought a very small laptop from Lenovo that I've been using in the field. It's about the size of a netbook, but it's more powerful. However, it wasn't cheap.

I recently bought a picture / video viewer made by StealthCam that was on sale for about $55. I haven't tried it yet, but it looks like it will do the job and keep me from having to bring my laptop in the woods. It probably makes more sense to spend a little more to buy a digital camera with a nice viewing screen.

I agree with the comment about buying extra SD cards. You can get them really cheap on Amazon.com these days. However, that approach doesn't work when you want to check pictures in the field for the purposes of deciding whether or not to hunt that spot at that time.

That's what I do. I don't stay out in around my huntin spots any more than I have to usually. I just pull and replace the card and hi tail it out of there, then look at them when I get home. ;)

I tried using my digital camera....matter of fact, that is one reason I bought myself a digital camera. However, it is very touchy about which ones it likes and which ones it doesn't. It doesn't seem to want to view any pictures taken at night. Then, some cameras it pull up day or night pictures. But, now that you all have reminded of that, I have replaced my old trail cameras, so I will give the digital camera a try. It would be nice if that would work.

i use a digital camera to view but i did have a problem last year. i used a photo card from my camera and put in the trail cam. none of the pictures would show up . somehow the card was "formatted" to the camera and wouldn't work in the trail cam. when i put a new one in the trail cam , it worked fine.

Guys.....you helped me! I took some photos from my new trail cameras - day&night shots - and I was able to view them all on my digital camera. I had not even thought about trying the digital camera with my new trail cameras, until you guys mentioned it. Thanks so much, you guys saved me some money!

Digital picture frame comes to mind too. A good number of them now have an sd card slot and the "screen" is bigger than the camera screen.

I tried one of them, but the one I bought was so slow in pulling up each picture, it would have took a week to look at them. I think I timed it at 8 seconds to pull up each picture. It is nothing for me to view 5-6000 pictures when I check my cameras.

I'd buy an ipad type device with an sd card slot.

That's what I use.

I wish I would have considered that when I bought one. I bought a kindle fire about six months ago - it has no sd card slot, and no way I can figure out to connect an sd card reader and view pictures.

Or in stand if you have camera with you.

Sounds like you got it figured out :)

I was going to suggest a small netbook. I used one that was small enough to put in a waist pack (Not to be confused with a fanny pack :D ). You can get one for just about as much or little as you want to pay. The one I had was just over $200 on sale.
