Brassica are in the turnip family. Yes, deer eat them, but primarily in the winter, after the first hard freeze.

it is the plant name from which canola oil is extracted. sounds better in the grocery store labeled canola oil, as opposed to rape oil

One opening morning of bow season i watched 14 does walk through a food plot and pick out the dwarf essex rape. im gonna do 3 acres of it solely this year just to see how the deer react.

I can't possibly be that old-you never heard of rape seed oil? Never seen it next to Corn oil in the grocery store?
Pull a Rapeseed plant out of the ground and twist the root, you'll be amazed how much stuff you twist out. Tastes horrible you ask me but it is grown everywhere and eaten everywhere, leaves and all.
