Turn up the volume and watch this video. What is the vocalization the buck makes at about the 13 to 14 second mark? He is watching something off camera, then aggressively makes the vocalization and works the scrape.

Here's another interesting vocalization right at the beginning of the video. Very aggressive. Not sure what he's charging at.

The first video sounds like a half snort wheeze to me and then he works the scrape. I can hear something else walking off camera so assume that it is another buck that he is showing aggression to.

The second video is kind of hard to hear but sounds kind of like a cross between a grunt and buck roar but then spooks from something.

First one sounds like a snort wheeze. Most times I've heard it was just like that, more wheeze than snort. I've only heard a classic snort wheeze on TV.

Second one sounds like a growl.

BSK,

I killed a mature 10 back in November, and right before he died he let out a blood curdling "death moan" so to speak. Very load, very pronounced and nothing like anything I've heard from a whitetail. The focalization lasted a good 8-10 seconds. Every heard this?

Once on a spine shot. He moaned like a bleating doe but it was deeper and raspy. It's not something I'd want to hear while walking out after dark lol.

Snort wheeze. I've only seen and heard it twice and both occasions played out similar to that. But I'll admit the bucks I head sounded more threatening than that one.

An 8 point I was fortunate enough to harvest a few years back let out a growl just before I saw him. I honestly thought it was a cow or something because of how loud it was. I was 100 or so yards away and I could have heard it from 300 yards. Btw within seconds of hearing the growl he came running by chasing a doe.

1st video is snort wheeze. 2nd is a faint growl.

I've been fortunate enough to hear both several times while hunting.

I agree with the snort wheeze in first clip. I have used wheeze to lure in bucks that had heard me and snorted but had not seen me or smelled me.

Yes, I have heard of that. In fact, I've been told of deer actually "screaming" at death.

In the second video, the buck is charging something that then runs in a circle out of view, and the buck goes after it. About 10 minutes later another buck comes through looking pretty bristled up.
