What tips do you take while hunting?

Page 21 of 2007 hunting guide, "Hunting arrows and bolts shall be of a barbless design and shall have sharpened blades". This is under big game hunting.

This has been brought up before and the TWRA guy says it is illegal to have anything but broadheads while archery deer hunting.

a friend of mine shot a cat with a muzzy small game head. It bounced off and didnt even drw blood. 60# draw weight

No offense intended with my following statement, but BBBBBBBBSSSSSSSSS! Unless the cat was 300 yards away that's not possible, maybe not even at 300.

An arrow going that fast with a [color:#FF0000]gummy bear[/color] on the front of it is going to penetrate.

I seen it happen to a rabbit in south Texas. I was the one shooting the rabbit. hit it in the head and it bounced back about 3 ft. it was the rabbit in my right hand.

A rock behind the head maybe? I'm not saying it can't happen, but it would be very improbable. Sometimes strange things happen though. Rabbit looks fairly dead to me, so I assume it penetrated and bounced back out?

nope, bounce off the head. got 2 witnesses but they live in Texas and dont visit this site so I cant bring them on to back me up. Dave(one of the guides) talked about it for 5 minutes, kept saying he had never seen that before. I pass it off as a rare occurance.
someone else stated they think it was because there was no solid stop behind the head so the rabbit actually abosrbed all the impact.

No witnesses needed, if you say it happened I'm cool with it. The laws of physics have to be broken every now and then, or they could very well explain it. I don't know which, I majored in Biology not geek math.

I'm not a math geek either. now my Dad taught college physics and everyone asks why I am not too bright.

and to answer your earlier post, it was with a longbow.

and to keep this from highjacking, I carry blunts with my broadheads also.

I suggest calling your local officer(s) and asking them their take on this is. more than likely they would be the ones writing the ticket. I just asked the ones here so I know what to expect.

Nothing but RAZOR sharp brand new broadheads. It does not matter what I shoot with the heads, they get replaced FREE anyway by Magnus Company. (BTW...4-blade Stingers)

I know a guy that carries field tips with him, he carries them just for critters and the like.
He accidentally got one out and shot a deer with it.
He had just got in his stand the the buck got up on him quick and he had to get his arrow and nock it while watching the buck.
Ended up shooting it in the butt.
He hit the femoral artery and it bled out as it crossed the field.
He never knew what he had done till he recovered the deer and pulled the arrow out.

That's how deer hunting is. You can do everything wrong and have it turn out right. And you can do everything right and have it turn out terribly wrong.
