Mama worked at the school. He had to take him down and get her to take pictures. He was so proud! Man I miss him!!I would hunt the family farm. It seems like it's an "old but gold" place to hunt. That's one big buck y'all had mounted.
I 2nd this. If you had more time to go home to hunt then the catoosa hunt wouldn't even be a question for me for this weekend. But since you only get this chance I'd be home hunting. Then I'd go to the farm.
I was born in Valdosta too!Valdosta
My grandmother just moved up here from there. Locust Grove has become the southern edge of Atlanta. Still have family in Rex, McDonough, Jackson, and on the north side tooCool. Mama remarried after daddy died. They live in Locust Grove.
No idea, buddy. Small world isn't it?I was born in Valdosta too!
Sure is. Mom and dad moved from Corinth, MS to Birmingham and then from Bham to Valdosta. I was born there and then we moved to TN when I was 2. Crazy thing is I remember going to pick my older brother up from school the day we were moving. No idea, buddy. Small world isn't it?
Something about hunting a place with history and memoriesThis was the first deer taken off of the farm.

Daddy was leaning up against a corner post down in the creek swamp when he came by.
That's a mule deer mount he is mounted on. His neck was so big he wouldn't fit a normal white tail mount. He dressed out at 215 pounds.
Years ago the Langdale family, they own most of Lowndes County, imported some Wisconsin white tail into the Withlacoochee River bottoms in east Brooks County and west Lowndes county. The Clyatt's Mill Creek feeds into the Withlacoochee. We believe some of the Wisconsin white tail that were imported made their way up the creek which is the southern border of the farm.
There aren't any giant racked bucks on the farm. This is one of the pictures my brother-in-law sent me today.

Just thought I'd share some Wood history. Been a while since I was able to hunt it.
We haven't been back since moving over 35yr ago. I kinda get the itch to go down to the Okeefenokee Swamp again, but never haveSure is. Mom and dad moved from Corinth, MS to Birmingham and then from Bham to Valdosta. I was born there and then we moved to TN when I was 2. Crazy thing is I remember going to pick my older brother up from school the day we were moving.
We drove through Valdosta some years back and went by where we used to live. Of course I don't remember that, but they said it has changed a lot since living there.
Come on! South Georgia Medical Center. My Nana was a Pink Lady there.I was born in Valdosta too!
Indeed!!Something about hunting a place with history and memories
I hate that. My brother moved to Australia. We moved here to Tennessee. We keep trying to get mama to go ahead and give the farm to my sister so she won't have to pay estate/death taxes or whatever. We're not going back. Lebanon is home. God loved me enough to call me to Tennessee!!Go home and hunt. I don't have that option anymore after 30 years, but wish I had made more time after I moved away. Killed 2 bucks in 8 years before it had to be sold to make everyone satisfied, and that was because I only hunted it 3.
May be. I just posted the 3 pictures he sent me thinking it was the 3 he told me about. You're probably correct.I don't have any advice but I think those three pics are all the same buck.
