Just found out my favorite online trail-camera seller is out of business. Any recommendations on quality online dealers with good return policies?

I ordered my last Reconyx from The Huntin Shack. They are a Tennessee company, based out of Knoxville. Very fast shipping and everything was as advertised (SD cards, security box, python cable, etc) and packaged well.

Another camera place that I just found out about is Yohe Mounts. They are based out of Pennsylvania. I know little about them and have never ordered from them, but I did read a few testimonials on another outdoor forum I frequent. The members on that forum claim the owner Jay is a great guy to deal with, ships fast and has great customer service.

Another one I see mentioned is TrailcamPro. I have never used them but their website is pretty decent with reviews and such. I have read where others have purchased from this site and been very pleased as well.

Hope this helps somewhat.

I had completely forgotten about The Huntin' Shack. I'll check to see if they have what I'm looking for.

BSK, Im curious. What trail camera do YOU use?

While white-flash was the only option, I switched exclusively to homebrews due to the exceptional picture quality they offered. However, once black-flash became an option, I started buying Reconyx black-flash and Uway NT50B units. I still love Reconyx, but their cost is very prohibitive. I've been experiencing some longevity problems with the NT50Bs, in that none last more than 18 months.

Currently, after reviewing all of the black-flash options for 2012, I'm looking at the DLC Covert Extreme Black 60 and the Uway VH200B. I like the extra flash power of the Covert and Covert's reputation for reliability/longevity, but I like the image quality of the VH200B better, and I like their ability to plug in a flash extender.

I've been eye balling them myself. I hope you get one and provide some real world feedback so I can make a really informed decision. Cheapest place I have found them is Wing Supply.

http://www.wingsupply.com/game-cameras- ... ng-camera/ ($50 cheaper than most other places AND free shipping)

Wing Supply website says it is currently out of stock, but it has been available because I have looked at it on and off for two or three weeks now. :)

I have been testing / playing with the DLC Covert Special Ops Code Black for a week or so now. This camera is a black flash cellular MMS camera. It is basically the black 60 but with cellular added I think.

I bought a sim card from TMobile for $3.99, went online and activated it with a prepaid $15.99 plan for unlimited text only, no phone calls. You pay $15.99 per month when you want to use it and don't pay for the months your not using it.

I have been receiving the texts / emails about 45 seconds to 2 minutes after the picture is taken. Camera also saves the full size image to the SD card inside the camera just like other cameras do.

You can have it send texts to up to 4 phone numbers and emails up to 4 addresses.

Here is the page I made with some example pics of the images it texts / emails.

No need to wait and check your camera anymore to see what it has been capturing :) Black Flash too! :D

BuckNrut,

I noticed you were carrying the Uway VH150 red glow cam, but are you going to carry the VH200B black-flash model?

Are you carrying the standard DLC Covert Black 60?

OHHHH GREAT now I'm never going to get any work done!!! But Thanks!!!

Good stuff BuckNrut, thanks for sharing. What kind of cellular coverage (great, pretty good, poor) do you have where the camera is setup at? Does the camera have a signal strength indicator that shows how many bars like a cell phone or what? Thanks in advance.

BSK,

I am going to have both the U150 and 200B. I am testing the 150's now and determining the reliability before I sell them. I am planning on contacting DLC Covert in the next couple of weeks and becoming an authorized dealer for them. Really impressed with this MMS camera. I can get the Covert cams through distributor until then too.

Andy I see mostly 2 to 3 bars on the camera. It seems to get better signal than my iPhone. Probably due to the larger antenna. It has worked really well anywhere I have placed it. I have only used the MMS cams for security up till now to catch thieves.

I used a Scoutguard SG580M last year and it ran from July 2011 till February 2012 on a single set of batteries and was still going strong.

Just came in a few ago. Check out the squirrel hiding from the doe,lol

Thanks BuckNrut. You may just make me take the plunge with one of the MMS setups to see how I like it. My wife will be so proud of your post and your influence on me, lol.

I am having fun with it. Pics rolling in every 2 minutes right now. Couple does in front of it. Cam just transitioned to IR

That's pretty cool BuckNRut. Is that the same model that sells on your website for $360.00? I may have to have one before hunting season.

X2
If cam is $360 and it cost u $20 month for service then for less than $2 a day, you can have pics sent to your smartphone.
