Where to hunt public near cookeville

Daughter/ hunting partner is in college at Tn. Tech. Its 3hrs. From home so I thought I may go there and try to find us a place hunt for a day. If any of you have advice about hunt locations I'd sure appreciate it.

Check out Cordell hull and center hill areas. Standing stone is about 30 minutes north of tech. Blackmans fork. If you go further north you can try alpine mountain, Jackson swamp, Dale hollow.

Lots of places in the area, but some areas have closing dates that are different than the regular season.

Cordell Hull has some nice area's.

Catoosa WMA is about 45 mins away and there's an open deer hunt there this week. (Thursday, Friday, Saturday.)
Antler restrictions are in place, game must be checked in at the Catoosa checking station instead of online.

Standing Stone or Cordell Hull WMA's are good places.

Blackburn Fork is a relatively new WMA but it's close to TTU.
