WHMC Guns

I have not dealt with them in a long long time. I had them do some work for me a few times well over 20 years ago, and the last was years ago when I took a brand new Winchester 1300 shotgun that had never been fired. It had an issue with the extractor brand new out of the box, Winchester told me to take it to them because they were the closest authorized warranty gunsmith. The old man through out a lot of foul language and reluctantly took the gun. His issue was that I had not bought the gun there. I understand about not buying a gun from them and them not making money on the sale, but they do get paid for warranty repairs. If he didn't want the responsibility of being an authorized warranty repair dealer, and making that money, then he should not have been listed with the manufacturer. The gunsmith there did fix it without issue, and I was able to pick it up without the old man cussing me out again. His attitude and their prices kept me from ever stepping foot back in their doors. I heard that he has since passed away and his son runs it now, but I haven't been back.

Frank is world class and probably the best smith around. Done several things for me and I have nothing but good to say about their gunsmith work. Trust them to do quality work.

Youre bad experience must have been before 2018 ! Lance (who is the owner) purchased this from Walter approximately 2018 . Lance is not related to Walter and he is not his son ! The gunsmiths there are awesome and very knowledgeable in firearms. I will work there from time to time to extra staff for sales that we have during the year . Just came out of black friday which we had people lining up the night before for great sales and they got them !

Yep, it was over 20 years ago. Gunsmith back then was good, don't know if he is still there.

Interesting… I have a Winchester Model 70, and I prefer to send my guns back to the factory if work is required. The customer service warranty returns lists 3005 Arnold-Tenbrook Road Arnold, Missouri. Looking at that building in Google maps, it says Browning on the building.

Looks like FN Herstal now owns them and is making the Model 70 in Portugal.

Good to know we have a good repair center here in Tennessee, should we ever need it. 👍

Mine is a new Featherweight Compact in 243 made in Portugal. Couldn't find one anywhere until I checked with Benton shooting supply. Drove all the way from Cookeville to Benton to get it. It's still UNFIRED. I moved the safety back and forth a few times and it locked up.

I bought my Super Grade in .243 in 2017 from Grab a gun. I would have bought local, but they wanted $300 over what GAG wanted. I've only put 20 rounds through mine for a barrel break-in. I only shoot at the range, so I haven't even tried my safety. Mine has a gloss black Lepold on it. It's been sweet so far.

From the guys here, it sounds like the service center you are asking about is GTG. Hope you get it straightened out. It a shame what's going on with customer service on everything. I've watched the fall of Smith & Wesson Customer Service, I didn't think I would ever see that happen…sad. 😢
