who all is getting ready for the season to start

been experimenting and making some calls. Thanks to Instructables.com I figured out how to make a mouth call. Learning how to use that and also got the tube call technique down....and bought my shotgun a week or two ago and will be patterning it soon for turkeys.

So yeah I'm not actively preparing right now but every now and then I get something ready and by the time April 2 comes I should have everything set to go.

Still got a good shed season between now and turkeys. I can't wait for either...

I am..... been ready for a few weeks now. Got several of the new hunting DVD's and watched all them atleast two or three times now.

Going to get the calls out and get them ready for opening weekend.

Put up my deer hunting stuff and gathered up my turkey stuff. I been messing with my calls some. I got some Woodhaven mouth calls on the way to try, as well as a new choke. I've got a new vest on the way too.

Are those DVDs worth the money? Do you get some helpful advice as well as it just being a thrill to watch? Just curious

Well I get them for the entertainment of watching them.....helps pass the time until I can be chasing them myself. I try to listen to the way they call and how they setup in the situation. I guess I try to apply some of what they do when I am hunting.

The real learning takes place in the woods between you and the turkeys.

Some good learning can be done by reading tips from various sources found over the internet by just doing a search.

I would suggest visiting oldgobbler.com also, great place to get info!!!

Never been myself but gonna give it a try this year for my boy to get one. Just a bonus if I do as well. Have a year round lease, not really sure where to start but have 3,000 acres to hunt, 12 ga., and one of those glass top plate things with a striker. Other than that, may get a decoy and other items too.

We're excited to at least give it a go.

I'd gladly share some of those 3,000 acres with you ;) How much do you pay for the lease? I'll be mainly hunting 12,800 acres of WMA which will have plenty of hunting pressure but I will do my best.

Thanks, it might be worth the drive some time but gas is going way up and I am tight on money as I am in college so you get the picture. Just to clarify, if you are a member of a lease, does that mean only the members can hunt or members can bring a friend with them? I may look into a lease sometime in the future when I have more money and find some place in my area.

Depends on the lease and area. Many don't allow guests but some do on a limited basis. Good luck in school.

Got my Woodhaven slate out yesterday after watching a turkey video. Put the striker to it and it sounded as sweet as the last time I used it. It like riding a bicycle. Have'nt got any new mouth calls yet and have learned to not pop the old ones in from last year. (dont want to get the crud)
