He doesn't, he sold all his to Brice Hensley "foxtrot ammo" is what he told me. I'm pretty sure ballistics products makes a wad that's the exact same but not 100% on that. I normally find a few at a time from guys in other forums. I only load for myself and a couple buddies
Are the handloads that much better than say Apex. The cost savings don't seem to be there if you catch sales on factory TSS. I currently reload rifle ammo, and used to load tons of shotgun so I'm familiar with reloading. I just haven't been able to convince myself loading tss is worth it for me, especially since I might shoot 5 rounds per year.
When I loaded shotgun it was because of the volume I shot. Rifle is for the precision and different bullets that aren't usually available in factory loads.

It takes a couple years or so but after the initial investment it's definitely saves money. But I didn't get into it to save money. It's more of a hobby for me and helps pass the time until turkey season in the winter and early spring.
yes and no. The MAIN advantage is you know your loads are exactly the same as long as you load them vs apex or others changing wads or powders at some point, plus it is more cost effective for sure long term. You get all the stuff up front and you dont have to worry about prices going up.
most of this all stemmed from the old Federal Heavyweights. Those were great but they kept making changes year over year to the point people would have to find and gather specific lot numbers so it shot the same in their gun.
Tommy Duliba was the 1st person I ever bought shot and wads from. He was great to deal with and one of his loads is still my load of choice (probably always will be). That load has been a proven killer for me. Unfortunately, Tommy isn't selling shot anymore. I always enjoyed talking with him.
I've bought from Ronny Savage as well. I load one of his 20 ga loads for my son and it has done well for him. I also load for 12 ga (even though I hardly carry one) using one of his recipes. I've never talked with Ronny, but he always responded quickly to any emails I sent him.
I enjoy loading my own shells and killing turkeys with them. But in all fairness, loading your own was the only option when I got started.

I'm in the same boat as you. I have shot less than a box of factory rifle ammo in the past 30 years, everything handloaded... both for accuracy, as well as cost savings (but mostly accuracy).
But when it comes to TSS, if you are savvy, you can find it on sale for $5 per round. That's cheaper than rolling your own, unless you are buying the shot yourself directly from China (at 10-20kilo min orders).
I'm not poo-poo'ing handloading TSS. Im just saying results are just as good with factory TSS and factory TSS is cheaper.

Talked a buddy into getting these TSS shells last year for $34 a box. Finally patterned them.
Mossberg 500 12g, .670 cheap choke.
If he moves the POI a couple inches to left of POA, he is easily over 250/250

I recall 15-20yrs ago everyone focused so much on pellet counts in a 10" circle we probably fired more shells at paper/cardboard than we did at actual turkeys. I haven't patterned a gun in years...even today's factory shell/choke combos will FAR outshoot anything we had back then.

I have bought from Freedom Munitions several times with no problems. Seems like a decent deal.
I bought like 8 or 9 boxes (mostly #7s for coyotes).
Keep your eyes open, check ammoseek.
Usually best deals are toward end of April and May.

I have a buddy that bought 30 boxes of the 12g Federals from Cabelas the first year they came out. I guess nobody knew what they were, and paid $10 per box.
He handloads, so he just cut them all open to pirate the shot. Way cheaper than spending $25 per pound for the pellets (that was the price back then)
