A bear measuring 1 foot taller than a 55-gallon drum barrel laid on its side = a 250-300 lb bear.
A bear measuring 15-18" taller than, or twice as tall as, the horizontal barrel = huge bear.

I'll never forget seeing a black bear in the big wood lot between the Panama City Beach front road and Walmart. last place I expected to see a bear.

Nice bear. This is one that was on my brother's property a few years ago. I really was hoping to see him during bow season but it never happened.

Yes sir they are considering a bear hunt. Lots of folks against it, sadly.hopefull the commissioners will pass it

Looks like a huge bear. I looked at a current distribution map, they are all over central Florida now. Crazy, there was a lot more supportive habitat when I lived there and there weren't any bears, now it's all houses......

Had dinner with a friend of mine who works for USFWS in Fl Wednesday night. He has been trapping nuisance bears in the panhandle area and says business has been good. The bears are on a 3 strikes and you're out program. He has had to euthanize hundreds of bears over the past couple of years he said. Thursday he sent a pic of a 500 pounder that was fixing to be put down.
