Who is going to shoot one if you get the chance during archery season, and who is going to go with a shotgun during fall turkey season and try to kill a couple? Count me in as usual. goal #1 is a longbeard (never kilt one in fall) and goal #2 is no poults. Yeah it's hard to tell sometimes. Also need a couple hens for the wing bones to make calls. Who's in? Before you say "it's not the same as spring" I know that, it's FALL season. So who is in?

We usually have anywhere from 75 to 100 hens on our place during the fall. If the opportunity presents itself and I am craving some turkey breast I may stick ONE, but no more than that. I have my own reservations about fall turkey hunting in TN which is for anther topic.

But to each his own, if its legal than there is nothing I can say to stop someone. I just dont want to hear them gripe come spring time.

I look forward to callin a couple to the gun every year just before Thanksgiving, both here and back home in Florida. Fried wild turkey is a tradition in my family ;)

I sure hope to! I have about 60 using one of my food plots. Remember that this year the bow bird also counts toward your fall gun hunt totals. So if you do get one say in Bedford County then come gun season you will only be able to harvest 5 instead of 6.

I would LOVE to get a tom or 2 with my bow. I probably will not go out with a gun, but definately if the chance presents itslf with my bow.

I already have the spot picked out for the fan mount, despite what my wife wants :)

There are 3 dustbowls in a clover plot within 20 yards of a groundblind i put up a couple weeks ago. If one shows up, im drawing. If not, Im relying on catman for a couple hen wings for calls.

yep ill be sure and save you a couple

Can you shoot a turkey with a bow before the fall season starts with a shotgun. The region 4 office says you can't but the handbook says different

Yes, you can take up to your full county limit with a bow during the archery only deer season. Any turkey killed with a bow counts toward your fall limit. They must have misunderstood your question at Region 4.

I let the first one pass yesterday at 15 yards. The flock presented themselves this evening at 35 yards and I couldn't help myself. Love the sound of that broadhead when it strikes...even recovered the bolt/broadhead to kill again another day.
Picture?

I will if an opportunity for a long beard is there wont shoot a hen or jake. defiantly not near the same as the spring so im not to into it but if one comes by ill give it a shot.

at this time of year I call them "jake beards" - half way between jake and longbeard. :D
