First of all, congrats to all the kids who got out and killed one and thanks to those who took them. I didn't have anyone to take this year as usual, but some day I will.

Now who knows where they will be on Saturday? Private or public, field or woods?

I am tossing two spots back and forth trying to decide which one. Both involve hardwood ridges and are covered up in turkeys and I have killed birds on both in the past, so I'm sure I will be in a good spot whichever one I choose.

Good luck

Wow, I posted this thread and then just a few minutes later, a whole group of longbeards flew up about 50 yards in front of me. Glad I have the camcorder with me, and I wish I could hunt here in the morning. It's gonna be tough picking a spot on opening day.

A lot can happen between today and next sat as far as where birds are. I'll be on private though and will chase them till I can't chase them no more sat.

Public land somewhere, if the rain is here as predicted I've got a pretty serious place in mind. If dry I'll be on one of several mountainsides.

Can't wait to run mountains this weekend, flat land hunting is almost too easy anymore

ill just go to whichever spot you decide not to go :D

On a piece of property that the company owns. Steep hills and deep dark hollers and miles of ridge tops. Spect I'll be wore out at the end of the day.

Private land but honestly, I rarely know where I'll start til I roll out of bed that morning and get a Diet Dew in me...unless maybe I roosted one the evening before. Even then, I've been known to turn left at the creek when I'd originally planned to got right at the old houseplace.

Just remember which one has more hunters in the past you will know where WE should be lol
hey if you get sat off and hunt opening morning, you should hunt whichever spot I don't because it's tough to decide on which one. I've killed birds on both spots in the past as well.

I expect the groups to break up somewhat in the next week, but still be in the same areas.

Our place is 700 acres with an entrance on each side from different roads. Usually there are birds on both sides and some in the middle. There's only one other turkey hunter and we talk the night before and decide who wants which side. Normally one is as good as the other so I don't really care. I work Monday-Wednesday during turkey season and he works 5-6 days a week so most days I have the run of the place.

Since one of the spots I hunt every year on opening morning Adrian and myself will probably start out there.

My opening morning spot will be the front deck of a Triton bass boat. :) Got a tournament on Saturday. I may get a few hours in on Sunday before church.

I listened on some public land yesterday morning, heard a few gobbles and slipped up on a big flock later in the morning. I will most likely be within 200 yards of that spot opening morning if something doesn't change. I will have my work cut out for me competing with 10-15 real hens and 30+ eyes in woods with ZERO foliage, but I'll be ready to get after it. :) Most of the turkeys I am seeing in my neck of the woods are still in winter flock mode, 10-20 hens in a group with 2-5 strutters accompanying them.
