Anyone got any cool ways/things you do with wingbones and/or stones?
One of my best buds got his first turkey last year so I whipped him up a display. Standard beard/fan/spurs but I also made him a wingbone call and put the stones in an old spice container. The lid is off a bottle of Old Elk Bourbon and the shelf is a piece of old barn wood off the farm he killed it on. I printed off a pic collage on wood as well.
My hope is he will be able to add to the stone collection over the years. Wish I had been saving them, I will now.
I macerate the wingbones then degrease in dawn for a few weeks. Put it all together with expoxy, put a good coat of mop n glow on it and wrap the joints with wax thread. I cut out a little wood tab that fits into the end so the call will stay put but can be easily removed. I figure the spice jar can hold about 4 turkeys worth of grit.
