It's been a pretty sorry woodcock season so far. Soon as the second season opened we got dumped on by the snow and cold. Might slip out a little this week to see if there's any making their way back north

We rabbit hunted Saturday. Usually in years past have flushed several woodcocks while rabbit hunting. Did not flush 1 Saturday. Maybe hard freezes had them pushed further down? I bet this weekend will be better.

I think that's what happened. They feed by probing into soft soil and frozen ground ain't it.

Friday is the last day of the season unfortunately and they will be on the move back north.
