I got my first set of merino wool long underwear last year before deer season. I got the 250 gram set. They are very warm and comfortable. I stayed warm in much colder weather than I expected them to keep me warm. They don't make me sweat when I'm walking in and out from my stands. I recently bought a pair of 400 grams. My plan for them is to wear both pairs at the same time to try to eliminate my insulated bibs until it gets down below 25 degrees. What experiences do others have with merino wool?

I've tried a bunch of them and stick with Darn Tough.

Darn Tough. I've worn smart wool a bunch as well but the Darn Tough ones definitely hold up better for me.

Whats your favorite wool socks

merino wool and not thick...I have been using darn tough and Orvis wool "dress" socks in the stand and blind. Both great! Giving away all of my thick socks....

Smartwool. It's made a huge difference in how my feet feel. I just can't explain it. I've even gone to working in lightweight smartwool even in summertime. It seems to reduce the fatigue factor that cotton puts on my feet.

In the last 20 years or so as far as I know my feet haven't gotten cold no matter what I am wearing, neuropathy has solved that problem, created others. When it's bitter out I constantly wiggle my toes and feet, they always sweat where I might be over doing it, beats frostbite I guess

I wear a thin to medium pair of Smartwool socks with only 400g insulated boots. I have worn those two pairs so much that I really need to replace them. I have several pair of the Fox River liner socks and those really make a difference in my opinion.
