worst call of all time

Just way to risky to throw with the Superbowl on the line!!??? They had a timeout left at the 1 yard line that means at least 2 plays. I'm Giving it to my MONSTER beast mode HB who makes a living fighting for extra yards, 2 times if they stop him by playing smash mouth football so be it. but the way Lynch runs it would have been VERY VERY VERY VERY hard to keep him from getting the TD Not only once but TWICE, they went risky passed it only got 1 shot at it and blew the game.

Same play executed to perfection dozens of times each season. Hardly on the money when anyone but your guy can catch it. Low and outside and it's a score. Execution was the problem. 95% of coaches wouldn't have dreamed of making that call.

Here's what they were probably thinking with little time, 3 plays, and a timeout. Throw on second down, catch the "D" sleeping, and save the timeout. Run on third down and if needed then use the time out. Run or throw on 4th down. They were trying to save all three plays to get the TD but it backfired. If they would of run on second down and not made it, they would of had to burn the timeout and probably only had one play left.

A little fun fact about the worst call ever.

That play, a throw inside the 1 yard line had been attempted 109 times in the NFL in 2014, including the playoffs be it a fade or an inside slant.

Total stats on that play: 109 attempts, 66 TDS, 1 (one) Interception.

You guessed it. The lone INT was in the Super Bowl last night.

IMO it wasn't as much the play callas it was the execution.

Honestly don't know donkey. I just heard this stat on ESPN this afternoon. I probably would have went with Lynch also.

The play that was called is always a 50/50 shot, except for the one exception of last night of course. It's either a catch for a TD or an incomplete pass. With the time on the clock and the down, I can't really say that it was a bad play call. It has scored TDS and won games before. It looked to me like the TD was there IF the pass had not been intercepted. The pass was not delivered where it should have been from what I saw. It should have been thrown at the midsection or the hip of the receiver and it was not. Also factoring in that it was played perfectly by the undrafted rookie, it was intercepted and that's how the game ended.

Why the Seahawks should have run
In the past five seasons, including the playoffs entering last night, teams on the opponent's 1-yard line ran the ball on 71 percent of all plays. On those plays, teams scored a touchdown 54 percent of the time while turning the ball over 1.5 percent of the time.

When passing from the 1, teams scored a touchdown just under 50 percent of the time while turning the ball over at a slightly higher rate.

The Patriots allowed five touchdowns on six rushes from their 1-yard line this season, including the playoffs (83 percent). Only the Philadelphia Eagles andWashington Redskins (both 100 percent) allowed touchdowns on a higher percentage of rushing plays from the 1-yard line.

If Seattle ran on second down, called a timeout and ran on third down, based on the league average touchdown percentage, two rushes would have resulted in a touchdown 79 percent of the time.

^^^^^^This was copied and pasted off the wed

BUT 80'/, Chance they score inside the 1 if they run the ball twice with hardly any chance they turn the ball over, Super bowl on the Line i'm running the ball from the half yard line twice lol

Very true. I put this on Wilson. Have to throw it so if your guy can't catch it no one does. Carroll said Patriots has 6 D linemen, 2 backers and 3 DBs. Felt they had them. But, Chris Carter pointed out that Browner jammed Kearse which kept him from setting a good pick and Butler said he was expecting a pick play and acted on it. Great coaching, preparation and execution.

Still I would have run it. Even though the Beast was 1 for 6 in that situation, the Patriots were also 1 for 6 on the season stopping the run from 1 yard out.
