Would you pay for a license to bait game species (other than migratory game birds) ?

Would you pay for a baiting permit to allow one to hunt with bait?

I pay an extra 50 dollars in Bama to have an out of state bating permit cause every field we have on the lease has a feeder on it and I can't hardly find places to hunt more than 200 yards away.

the in state fee was 15 dollars.

we saw a whole lot more deer this year in the fields but no shooters. Pix of some shooters after dark. Lots of Turks though.

Baiting to me is not an ethical issue. I don't care how someone takes an animal, just that they do it cleanly and mind the limits.

But there would have to be some really strong arguments to make me see a baiting "permit" as anything more than a money grab.

It's either bad for the herd, or it isn't. If it is, then a permit doesn't fix that, and if it isn't, then it should be a non-issue.

You are not going to slow cwd or stop it, they are wasting money and resources for a non fixable problem just like covid it will have to do what it does, deer are swapping spit bait or no bait, and yes im đź’Ż against baiting.
Also, crows, eagles, hawks, etc. spread CWD after eating from an animal that has CWD. Until they figure out to stop that, nothing else matters IMO.

No I would not pay extra to use bait. In fact, if it were legal, I would not bait, for a number of reasons. First, that's about the fastest way possible to spread contagious diseases. Second, I have run numerous studies on the effectiveness of bait across the Southeast and I've seen for myself just how ineffective it is at drawing the type of deer I'm after (mature bucks) during legal hunting hours.

Currently, many of my neighbors bait. I know because I have seen their bait piles and feeders. Personally, I don't care if they bait, as long as I can't see it from my property line. The only time I've cared is when one neighbor poured out his bait piles right on the property line. Finding those bait piles meant I couldn't legally hunt that part of my property. Only then did I turn my neighbor in for baiting. He still hates me for that and has even taken a couple of blind pot-shots at me during deer season.

I voted no, but I couldn't care less if they made it legal for deer hunting and if they did and I felt like my neighbors were doing it, I'd probably compete with them on my land. I can't see it on public land.

would I pay a fee to do it? IDK. Maybe if it was like $5, but if it was something stupid like $50, I probably wouldn't pay. Of course tons of people are doing it for free now, so I doubt they will pay, although it may give them a reason to try to enforce it.

I voted no....I wouldn't waste a nickel on baiting.... certainly wouldn't pay extra for a license to bait....so many other ways to spend funds that actually benefit wildlife.
