Hot. Damn hot. Real hot etc.....
I was slated to be out in the '90s' for the last 2 weeks of October. Daytime highs in the upper 60s apart from the one day of snowfall that was gone by the afternoon.

My first hunt in 12 years that I saw literally zero sign anywhere. I was hiking an average 6 miles a day, the snowy Tuesday I covered 9 & didn't cross a single elk track! Muleys & antelope everywhere (it was great to see the antelope recovering after last winter) but no elk.

I spoke with Adam, the local possum cop (I've run into him every year since 2011 now) & he told me that not one elk had been tagged out of my particular unit since October 12th.

I ended up sacking it off 5 days earlier than planned & coming home. I still had a fantastic time, but it would've been a lot better with a couple of full coolers in the truck 🥺 It's very hard to whinge about a hunting trip where the weather was too nice though!

It's definitely been "too nice" for hunting out here. Actually, all of September n October has been warm.
Some weather has finally pushed in but still a little warm.
The Tuesday storm brought much needed snow to the fires. I was actually driving from SE MT back to the Western part of WY, so I got to drive through the heart of it.

Wish you'd had gotten an elk but glad you had a good time!
