Anyone have experience with the youth turkey quota hunts? My 8 y/o is wanting to try for one. I put him in for Yuchi & Tellico. what chances do we have of him getting one? If you've hunted it, how's the hunting there?

Shooter....I'm glad you asked the question and hope some of the guys will comment. Put my stepson in last season but didn't get drawn, so hopefully the 1 point will help but not positive. Find it odd that all the youth hunts are on this end of the state at that, would think TWRA would have more Youth Turkey hunts across the state.

Shanman,

Yeah i was surprised that they only have few hunts and them being on east side. Since it's his first year putting in, I really wasn't expecting him to get picked, but he's lucky and probably could pull it off if possible. Hopefully a few others will jump in and give some input.

I know Yuchi is decent but I am glad to see others noticing that TN's turkey quota hunts are woefully inadequate for opportunities. There is still time to put your kids in for quota hunts in Georgia, much more opportunity, and much more quality. I strongly recommend you take advantage.

As far as Georgia I did put myself in for a priority point, guess I need to put the boy in for one to. Glad you brought it up, I needed the reminder.

What things do GA offer? Is the hunting that much better?

Simply more hunts in total.(20 just for Youth) Less hunters per square mile. Typically better facilities on WMA's. They post statistics somewhere that I've found before so you can see which WMA's are among the better ones.

One more thing GA does better- longer quota hunts. Many are 7 days in length giving the resident or non resident plenty of time to fill tags.
