Recruiting new younger turkey hunters is important, and videos like these help get people interested in the sport. Most of the guys I run into on public are a lot older than me. I know we all want some woods to ourselves and don't like crowds, myself included, but we gotta remember it's hunters who fund conservation, and with a decreasing hunting population, what does the future hold for turkeys? Public land popularity is up, but overall hunter numbers are down. Would you rather see some kids watch a TV infomercial hunt over a corn feeder with a strutter decoy and then try to take those tactics to their local public land, or see those kids watch some YouTube videos and learn some actual hunting tactics?

very well put

I would worry more about doing my part with predators to help the turkey population then worried about the hunting public or Dave Owens. as a matter of fact I wouldn't worry about Dave Owens killing a turkey unless we didn't have a bag limit. He is part turkey

I'm with you I really enjoy your videos ,Pinhoti and most of THP. These guys are mostly old school style hunters without all the fancy gear and gimmicks. You have to respect what they are doing. It looks like they are a traveling circus but also having the time of their lives. More power to em!

I'm sure with some digging you could identify their locales but I haven't been able to always? I think the majority of viewers have no idea where they are hunting unless they can identify the trees?

I do think they have made public ground hunting more popular as a whole for better or for worse.

Traveling the country hunting for work! Living the dream! Keep up the good work!

They spook and miss/cripple more turkeys than any group I've ever seen. And except for the homely chick with curly hair, they all wear stupid hats.

I respect anyone who kills fair numbers of turkeys on public land. And since their whole gig is based on hunting public land, I can't really fault them for acknowledging that they are hunting public land in a particular state. But they could do a better job of hiding what areas they are hunting so as not to draw everybody to that spot the next year. Dave Owens hunts mostly public, but you'd be hard pressed to identify what area he's hunting
That's not necessarily true. Dave has shown too much of lots of areas and regrets it now.
......not as bad as the hundreds of local guys who were hunting it before Dave knew about it.

No one is worried if Dave kills 15, like HUNDREDS of other turkey hunters out there. The BIG difference is most of them do not advertise where they hunt on the world wide web. That ONE action/fault alone has consequences for hundreds of others who were hunting there before Dave and others knew about the public ground. That is the part that irks so many, but the YouTubers just cannot see. Hunt all you want, just do not advertise locale for the world to see. It is that simple.

I stand for what they are doing. Having fun, getting interest from other hunters, and doing it the right way without gobs of decoys, blinds, and other dumb stuff. I'm all for that. Also hunting tough public property.
But I don't think they should broadcast all of those locations. It ain't hard to figure out the areas where some of them go. I don't care if it's public land.
There's 65 year old retired dudes been hunting there for 40 years and now the last four or five years he can't find a place to park because all the nonsense.

THP only has done one thing that pissed me off and I almost quit watching them. A season or two ago one of their guest belly crawled a bearded hen. And they acted like it was ok because it was legal. It ain't ok to shoot a hen. Everyone needs to listen to Dr. Chamberlain's podcast on meat eater and they'd understand how difficult it is for turkeys to survive. Then you get some googan shooting a hen, well, because it's legal. My gosh. Full grown hens don't weight but 10-12 pounds, and their breast meat ain't no bigger than a chicken at the store. I just see no reason to shoot a hen ever unless it was a complete accident.

I don't think they say where they're at that much do they?! Other than Dave talking about Cypress I can't recall any of the other public land shows naming names. And I've watched all the THP,Pinhoti and Catman videos I think Sure locals can pick out those spots But someone like me don't have a clue lol. That being said. I think all the public land shows are shooting them selves in the foot lol. Like the old saying goes loose lips sinks ships. And while they're not giving out names. They are giving more people the confidence to go out and try out of state public land which in years to come will mean more competition to them potentially And hey whatever floats their boat. I understand they're capitalizing off the videos and absolutely none of this will affect my hunting. So carry on fellas. I love watching the videos
