Bama got well inside FG range 32 yardline with 30ish seconds left to go in the game.

First down incomplete pass.
Second down incomplete pass.
3ed down incomplete pass.

Stopping the clock gaining Zero yards. They have the best Back in college. If they run the ball once they pick up 5+ yards drain the clock call a timeout, and attempt the easier kick. Worst case Bama misses the kick game goes to OT.

Instead the gain 0 yards, and they leave UT enough time to set up a Game winning FG.

Absolutely. Run it to the middle. At least UT has to use a time out. Do it again. UT uses last time out. Then do it again run clock down to 3 seconds and his kick is good from the middle. Terrible play calling.

Yup, like you said even forcing UT to use the timeouts would have been huge UT needed 2 timouts to get into FG range.

Right, crazy thing is Bama got exactly what they needed to win big. Mutiple defensive turnovers, UT missing a PAT. Stopping UT Mutiple times on 4th down. UT with mutiple Starters out, And they still couldn't hold UT under 50! this UT team is legit.
 
I think we're seeing just how important ole Butchie Jones was to Coach Nickey, his right hand man.

Typically we don't see him coaching scared. He was terrified of that Vol offense. He usually isnt very gracious about opponents in a post game interview, especially when they lose. I give the man credit, he was very complimentary of UT. He talked about their mistakes and shortcomings but he did give the Vols credit
 
What's even more interesting is that in his post game, he talks about how they dropped more guys back to help with the passing game, and even that didn't help. Says a lot about this UT offense
