Carpet bass? But to answer your question MAYBE. The ones I've reeled in have dark spots on the side. Does it have red eyes?

Onto farther inspection, looks to have faded spots on it just not as defined

Love finding them in a creek! Used to fish a tributary to the red river at Crossplains TN that had many and was a blast to fish and always a stringer full. Sadly those days were in the 1980's…

You've got me searching. I usually see more colors in Warmouth but maybe that is what this is. The key difference I keep seeing between the Warmouth and the Rock Bass is the number of spines of the anal fin; Rock Bass with six and Warmouth with three.

Or maybe it is something else.

I catch a ton of warmouth this isn't one.

Fatherinlaw called them Saturday night drunks lmao looks like a rockbass to me.

Yeah, doesn't look like one to me but the fins keep throwing me off based on the ID sites I've looked at. Maybe it's a natural hybrid?

Had access to a farm pond when I was a kid that was grossly overpopulated with warmouth, they were way more yellow. You could catch them with a gold hook or a piece of chewed bubble gum.
Would often catch a few 3/4 pounders they were great eating. Wish I could get my hands on some live ones to put in a pond.

It's not really colored right for a rock bass. Looks more like a green sunfish to me…
