2014 Mathews Line is out

One thing that can't be argued is Mathews unparalleled success in the industry, like them or not....

in the past no you cant. imo this line they just put out is pathetic. I believe people are really getting fed up with them and they are about to loose a ton of business.

My loyalty is with the pro shop and not the manufacturer, I have been going to them for 35 yrs... They opened in 1978 I was 8 years old. They are a family owned business and yes they do carry Mathews along with PSE and Mission of course. Just like myself most people in my area are loyal to them and not the name on the bow...If he was to drop Mathews and pick up whoever I would still be loyal to him. Bent Arrow Archery is hands down the finest pro shop I have ever been in...

I think anybody can respect that. As for me, I don't like being nailed down to one particular brand of anything. If/when I get in the market for something, I go try everything out that I can. I don't like being made to "make due" with a product by being loyal to only one brand, especially when I know something else to be better. It's one of those freedoms that I am grateful for being able to do.

Locally in this area, you run into a lot of people that are what I described above, as having the "superiority complex" because they bought a Mathews bow. I've ran into some of these guys at the local shoots, that were brand new to archery, and by the way they talked and acted, they thought they were the stuff because of what bow they bought and were shooting. By the end of the round, they were in damage control mode. I've not shot many ASA shoots but even some of them are a bit that way; but not as bad as the local level. Mathews does make decent bows; not a knock on their equipment. Just their egotistical marketing strategy has spawned a lot of the crap ya run into out on the tournament trails. The last bow they made that I really really liked, was the Prestige, and that's been a while back.

While I don't really disagree with what anyone has said about Mathews not really doing anything new, what other bow company has in the last few years? I also get what people are saying about the fan boys. I shoot a Mathews and they drive me crazy.

I've owned 10 Mathews bows over the last decade and the bows have definitely stepped up since 2003. The chill is by far the best bow they've put out in my opinion! I hear people saying that Mathews shooters are cocky/arrogant but I've experienced just the opposite. The guys at Mathews have always been very good to me! You can only make so many advancements with a bow and NO bow company puts out a killer line up everytime.

I have the Drenaline, and I like Mathews bows. I do not like their marketing strategy and how they come out with a new bow every year.
I do not consider my self cool because I shoot a Mathews, I just like the bow. I shot several and that is the one I chose. I do agree that some people think they are better because they shoot the newest Mathews. I can't stand it.
Other bow companies do the same, trying to come out with something "new' every year. I wish it would be more about quality than it is. America has gotten out of whack. Nothing is built to last any more.

I bought the Creed last year. I love that bow. Lots of people do not like them. Most complain about the draw cycle saying its not smooth. My response is go hit the gym.. If you pull steady it is very smooth and the back wall is as rock solid as it gets. Bow is very accurate. Been shooting bows for 25 + years and have never been this accurate. As far as speed when I had mine cranked down to 70 lbs 400 grain arrow and 29 inch draw I was hitting consistent 302-303fps. Since I have dropped weight to 65 and I am at 290-292 ish. So if that is slow than I must be retarded. I believe I can kill anything that walks in North America no problem. People get way to hung up on speed. They want 1 pin to 40yds and shoots 370 fps +. Give me accuracy and quiet any day. I have shot mathews for 12 years now. I have never put down anything anyone shoots. I am not a fan boy. I shoot them because they fit me best. When the line up came out this year I will have to admit I was too disappointed. I was hoping they would make some 32 ata or bigger. I'm sure next year they will probably make a Creed XL. I have shot most of the new bows from last year and this year. I have to admit I really like the way the Elites feel and also the Primes. Shot the new hoyts, and PSE's and they were nice too. I agree mathews has not set the world on fire with new stuff in a while. But the one thing you ALWAYS get is quality equipment. I just get really tired of the bashing of Mathews shooters and also the comment "waffle bows" really? Come up with something new.. Good luck on the rest of season guys! Should be getting good soon! Take care and wear your safety harness.

To say I'm disappointed is an understatement! More of the same from Mathewssuper short, split limbs and slower speeds and modified previous years models that they have only slightly changed. It seems that they are more interested in making their bows aesthetically pleasing than they are advancing the design and shootability. I am planning on upgrading my Reezen this year, but Mathews is doing their best to cause me not to stay with them, especially since I've already shot the new Elite Energy 35 and last years Creed and Chill. When this elbow heals, I'll likely be shooting something different, but Mathews is not getting any loyalty points from me like they have in the pastcompanies like Elite and Hoyt have caught them I'm afraid.

Hey I just realized... were you really disappointed because there isn't a x-bow in the Mathews line yet?

The price of Focus grips just went up! ;) :D

Yeah and A LOT of shooters are judgemental towards Mathews shooters before even giving us a chance to introduce ourselves. I see it all the time at 3d shoots... Those people are no better than the Mathews shooters you speak of....

it seems the rise of smaller companies is the new thing, companies like Elite and Obesssion are building them more to what people want and have a warranty to back them up.

i don't care for Mathews or Hoyt these days, IMO they just keep putting the same thing out there with a new name on it each year.

No doubt!!!

Thank the Lord I got out of wanting a new bow each year. I've shot many Mathews. My favorite was the MQ1. If they came out with that bow again with some modernization, I'd buy one in a heartbeat. But most of the stuff being put out I don't really like. Lower axa, shorter brace height. I shoot a Hoyt Katera and that's about as small as I want to go!

It's hard to introduce yourself to other people when most Mathews shooters I've encountered have their nose stuck so high in the air they would drown in a light rain shower. That is UNLESS they see another Mathews shooter. Then it's like they are "in the club". I know this because that is the way it was when I use to have Mathews bows. The other guys would say hi, talk to you, etc on the range. The very next shoot that I went to after buying a non Mathews bow...it was like a switch was flipped. I walked by a group that I had even shot with on a few occasions and had a good time with, and would talk to every time I saw them on the range. After they saw I had a new bow and I said hello to them on the range, they literally turned their backs and pretended like I wasn't there! The only difference was the bow I had in my hand. From that day on, when I would see them they would turn their back to me. I had to more the less force them to say hello to me. I guarantee you if I went back to a shoot with a Mathews in my hand, it would be like a light is switched and they would act like I was an old friend they haven't seen in a while. How do I know? Because it actually happened back earlier this yr when I was playing around with a Mathews C4 as a target bow. When they saw what I had, that's exactly how they acted. Later in the yr when I was shooting the Strother Moxie...they were back to that back turning thing.

I'm reminded of a Proverb. "A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly".

I honestly care not what brand bow somebody else is shooting. Just don't try to act like you're high and mightier than me or anybody else just because we don't shoot a bow from the same company you do.

So because of those guys you are going to judge all of us? If I went thru life judging a whole group of people for one reason or another I wouldn't have any friends... Like I said people who show prejudice towards someone else before.giving them a chance is no better than that group you speak of..

Wow...I'm not crazy about what Mathews has released the past couple years but you've got a bona fide serious resentment :D

Talk therapy maybe? That's some serious pent up anger coming out lol

You are correct UT/General Lee. It reminds me of the preps in junior high/high school where if you didn't wear such and such brand clothes or if they didn't come from such and such store, that you were treated like low life crap. But if you went and got a pair of pants like the preps wore, then you were in the "in" crowd. I didn't like it then and I sure don't like it now.

I wonder how the families of the victims of 9-11 feel toward Muslim extremists ;) Sometimes all it takes is a "handful" to put a bad taste in your mouth. Like eating out some place and gettin food poisoning...if you look at the "glass half full" then you see it different. You think of all the people that didn't get poisoning. But when it happened to you...it makes personal and you see it different. The example I gave was just one of several I could have named. I just gave the most recent to show a contrast between when I had a Mathews bow and when I did not. I am just one of many who have experienced the superiority complex behavior. You don't have to look far to find examples of others. How many hunting "pros" do you hear saying stupid things like "THAT's why I shoot a Mathews" after a bow kill. As if the deer could read the label on the bow and said "I think I will meander over there and be shot by him...he's got a Mathews". It's that promotion attitude that fuels the complex on to the regular Joe. Then suddenly that "handful" starts to grow quite a bit.

Another example. A new guy at work came over to talk. He found out about me tournament shooting and asked what bow I shot. I told him and here it came. "Well I shoot a Mathews"...as if we were all suppose to stop and bow down. I asked him what model and he didn't even know! He said "I don't know but it's a Mathews". lol All I said was "they make popular bows. That's for sure. I see a lot of them out there".
