2014 Mathews Line is out

I've never really been a Mathews fan but dang, I don't think that new line up gives their shooters much to get excited about. Personally, I won't really consider them until they get rid of, or change the roller guards, tweak their dual cam system a bit, and get rid of the current riser design. There are too many other choices out there that fit what I'm looking for.

I can also relate to what others have said about some of their shooters. Obviously, most of them are just fine but, I still have a bad taste in my mouth from a select few.

I could easily say that many guys who don't shoot a Mathews are bitter, because many in fact are, however I know that's not the case with all.

Every company is making quality bows, innovation is what sets them apart. I am with a lot of you in saying they just aren't creative anymore.

Yeah and A LOT of shooters are judgemental towards Mathews shooters before even giving us a chance to introduce ourselves. I see it all the time at 3d shoots... Those people are no better than the Mathews shooters you speak of....

It's hard to introduce yourself to other people when most Mathews shooters I've encountered have their nose stuck so high in the air they would drown in a light rain shower. That is UNLESS they see another Mathews shooter. Then it's like they are "in the club". I know this because that is the way it was when I use to have Mathews bows. The other guys would say hi, talk to you, etc on the range. The very next shoot that I went to after buying a non Mathews bow...it was like a switch was flipped. I walked by a group that I had even shot with on a few occasions and had a good time with, and would talk to every time I saw them on the range. After they saw I had a new bow and I said hello to them on the range, they literally turned their backs and pretended like I wasn't there! The only difference was the bow I had in my hand. From that day on, when I would see them they would turn their back to me. I had to more the less force them to say hello to me. I guarantee you if I went back to a shoot with a Mathews in my hand, it would be like a light is switched and they would act like I was an old friend they haven't seen in a while. How do I know? Because it actually happened back earlier this yr when I was playing around with a Mathews C4 as a target bow. When they saw what I had, that's exactly how they acted. Later in the yr when I was shooting the Strother Moxie...they were back to that back turning thing.

I'm reminded of a Proverb. "A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly".

I honestly care not what brand bow somebody else is shooting. Just don't try to act like you're high and mightier than me or anybody else just because we don't shoot a bow from the same company you do.

Crow,

You have got to be kidding me.

I wonder how the families of the victims of 9-11 feel toward Muslim extremists ;) Sometimes all it takes is a "handful" to put a bad taste in your mouth. Like eating out some place and gettin food poisoning...if you look at the "glass half full" then you see it different. You think of all the people that didn't get poisoning. But when it happened to you...it makes personal and you see it different. The example I gave was just one of several I could have named. I just gave the most recent to show a contrast between when I had a Mathews bow and when I did not. I am just one of many who have experienced the superiority complex behavior. You don't have to look far to find examples of others. How many hunting "pros" do you hear saying stupid things like "THAT's why I shoot a Mathews" after a bow kill. As if the deer could read the label on the bow and said "I think I will meander over there and be shot by him...he's got a Mathews". It's that promotion attitude that fuels the complex on to the regular Joe. Then suddenly that "handful" starts to grow quite a bit.

Another example. A new guy at work came over to talk. He found out about me tournament shooting and asked what bow I shot. I told him and here it came. "Well I shoot a Mathews"...as if we were all suppose to stop and bow down. I asked him what model and he didn't even know! He said "I don't know but it's a Mathews". lol All I said was "they make popular bows. That's for sure. I see a lot of them out there".

Dude you've got to let go! :D

There really isn't any bow companies that are impressive enough to buy from year in and year out.

I read the same garbage from Mathews, Hoyt, Bowtech, PSE, etc. That stuff is all designed for one thing: seperate you from your money.

Small bow companies are making huge strides in the market, but they will probably stumble too. Every company has problems when they get too big and stop listening to input from customers.

Hopefully Mathews will take a different route in the future. I think they are going to have to. Seems they have gotten away from what built the company. Dual cam speed bows and single cam bows that aren't that smooth didn't put them on top of the market.

I've owned 10 Mathews bows over the last decade and the bows have definitely stepped up since 2003. The chill is by far the best bow they've put out in my opinion! I hear people saying that Mathews shooters are cocky/arrogant but I've experienced just the opposite. The guys at Mathews have always been very good to me! You can only make so many advancements with a bow and NO bow company puts out a killer line up everytime.
best post yet. I shoot Mathews and I will continue to do so. There is only so much you can do.

IMO...the last bow Mathews made that is what I'd call a nice shooting bow was the Heli-m. I really liked it a lot. I noticed and have been reading issues with the new Creed XS on the bow that have 70lb. limbs. When you back them out they are making a noise where the Roller guards are. Seen another guy on Bowhunting.com with that same issue as well. I think the Original Chill was nice too. I'm kind of a brand loyal guy...PSE and Hoyt has been great to me over the past 20 years. Just going to stick with them. If I bought a Mathews it would be the Heli-m. Is it still in the 2014 lineup?

My loyalty is with the pro shop and not the manufacturer, I have been going to them for 35 yrs... They opened in 1978 I was 8 years old. They are a family owned business and yes they do carry Mathews along with PSE and Mission of course. Just like myself most people in my area are loyal to them and not the name on the bow...If he was to drop Mathews and pick up whoever I would still be loyal to him. Bent Arrow Archery is hands down the finest pro shop I have ever been in...

This guy hit the nail on the head. If it wasn't for your local pro shop where would you go to get that much needed quick fix accomplished? Yeah some of you may know how to do those fixes but what about the supplies to fix them or the broadheads to fly your arrow? Your pro shop is important. I like my Heli-m I have learned to shoot it good but I do think there are better bows than Mathews, but until Benton Shooters starts carrying them I will continue with Mathews. They are great to me and I would have a hard time hunting if that place wasn't there.
