2023 Kill Thread

The 6 was aged at 5.5 plus and was killed on public Thanksgiving morning at 8:44 am. 35 REM

The 8 was killed at 8:44 am the following morning. I missed him at 250 yards, shot through brush I didn't see in the scope. I lung shot him a 290 yds. Abolt .270.

Man I'd love to get a big heavy 6. Congrats on a great season!

New lease...scouted for the first time on November 4th, hung the stand, and put out a camera on a mock scrape on the 5th. The first deer that showed up at the scrape on the 7th was a 13pt. On the first day in the stand on the 12th, I sat all day and took this 11pt with my bow at 14 yards hot on a doe. It was 4:30 pm, so I didn't take many pictures. I skipped a day for work, which I learned a few days later I would have had the opportunity at a mega 10pt with split brows...that hurt. The second day in the stand on the 14th, that 13pt that was the first deer I caught on camera, came through hot on a doe. He was trotting through at 30 yards, and I liver-shot him....didn't lead him enough. Fortunately, he stopped at 50 yards and gave me enough time to get off another bow shot and I nailed him. My longest-ever bow shot. And my shortest season ever, but it sure was a lot of fun! I can't wait to get back in there in 2024.

Thank You! Yes, the 13pt gets a shoulder mount. The 11pt gets a European mount.

So, while I'm typing, I'll show y'all what came down my trail on the 13th, the day between me tagging these two. Keep in mind I just acquired this lease less than 10 days before hunting it, so I had very little time to run cameras and inventory the bucks in the area. My standards have already gone up a few notches for next year. It's hard to tell it in the picture, but that first one, along with a 20" spread, has matching split G-2s. It helps that the owner says this place hasn't been hunted as long as he's owned it...and it shows! I know this is a "kill" thread, so I'm just showing you my two "kills" for 2024 ;).
