I see what you mean there, but I care about the herd. I know what this area was for a long time. It was awesome deer numbers.Than don't
And thats all you can do is dontI see what you mean there, but I care about the herd. I know what this area was for a long time. It was awesome deer numbers.
Late July evening riding backroads you could see 60 to 70 deer. Now...possibly a couple, but probably none. It's that bad.
It's sad to be honest.
I understand. And thats all you can do is dont
I also understand that, so what ya gonna do besides not shoot them on your place/places. You sure aint gonna stop anyone else or the Twra from killing em. You can have all the issue you want with it but what are you gonna do about it? Seriously would like to know not just being an a$$I understand.
Hard to do when in the 70's it was talked about for weeks in the community about seeing deer. I watched TWRA do a fine job bringing the population up to fantastic, and still within carrying capacity. I was involved, in a small part, with that.
Too see all that work and the great results, and now give a license to slaughter; yeah I have an issue with it.
I wanna know why TWRA is doing this after all the hard work and dedication?I also understand that, so what ya gonna do besides not shoot them on your place/places. Because it was such a success that the herd can now support it.I wanna know why TWRA is doing this after all the hard work and dedication?
The environment very well supported seeing 60 deer an evening in July then; and still can, but our deer are gone. So why up the doe kill?Because it was such a success that the herd can now support it.
But the 3-a-day limit is only for Units 1, 2, and 3, how is that going to affect 4, 5 and 6? I can only speak for what was Unit L, now 2, but we have a ton of deer here, though not in every corner, but I see a ton of deer in the fields almost everywhere I go. Most are does too, with a buck thrown in here and there. Most of the hunters I speak to do not kill many does, if any, so they don't get as much pressure as they probably should. I think the 3-a-day number just doesn't match reality, and isn't as bad as numbers from some of the predation permits; which, if anything, is affecting the numbers you may be experiencing.I have a feeling some didn't see what I did and what it took to get there.
East tn is gonna suffer hard from it. I feel sorry for those guys.
Eastern middle TN will suffer also, not as bad, but it's already back to 1980s numbers here.
