2024 antlerless bag limit

Considering we still harvest more bucks than does every year, I don't think the 3/day is a problem. We STILL need to kill more does.

Besides, if you say the limit is something like "4" there is this feeling that people have to kill 4 or they left tags unpunched. That would actually be a problem if everybody were to kill 4 does.

Instead, the current limit allows people to take exactly what they need when they need it, and the deer herd is doing fantastic overall.

Don't fix it if it ain't broke, and if it is broke, only fix it where it's needed.

I don't have a problem at all with the 3/day reg. As mentioned most don't do it, are there some....sure but I bet it doesn't happen often!
What gets me is the depredation permits.....I absolutely hate the thought of them BUT in a sense understand them from a farmers perspective. What gets me is those same farmers/property owners are the ones who don't allow any hunting but want to cry to the guberment for help in means of a nonsense kill all permit all the while collecting insurance on crop damage caused by the deer.
I know of one farm locally that 39 deer were shot and left to feed the coyotes and buzzards this past summer....guess who is crying because of the coyotes and black buzzards are killing their calves now.....

And thats all you can do is dont
I understand.
Hard to do when in the 70's it was talked about for weeks in the community about seeing deer. I watched TWRA do a fine job bringing the population up to fantastic, and still within carrying capacity. I was involved, in a small part, with that.
Too see all that work and the great results, and now give a license to slaughter; yeah I have an issue with it.

I also understand that, so what ya gonna do besides not shoot them on your place/places. You sure aint gonna stop anyone else or the Twra from killing em. You can have all the issue you want with it but what are you gonna do about it? Seriously would like to know not just being an a$$

I wanna know why TWRA is doing this after all the hard work and dedication?

I have a feeling some didn't see what I did and what it took to get there.
East tn is gonna suffer hard from it. I feel sorry for those guys.
Eastern middle TN will suffer also, not as bad, but it's already back to 1980s numbers here.

But the 3-a-day limit is only for Units 1, 2, and 3, how is that going to affect 4, 5 and 6? I can only speak for what was Unit L, now 2, but we have a ton of deer here, though not in every corner, but I see a ton of deer in the fields almost everywhere I go. Most are does too, with a buck thrown in here and there. Most of the hunters I speak to do not kill many does, if any, so they don't get as much pressure as they probably should. I think the 3-a-day number just doesn't match reality, and isn't as bad as numbers from some of the predation permits; which, if anything, is affecting the numbers you may be experiencing.
