2024 Kill Thread

This year my wife said she wanted to start deer hunting, which I was excited for her wanting to start deer hunting. She begun her first deer season with muzzleloader season, she had passed several opportunities to kill some does. But she was willing and wanting to hold out for a buck. Well, this morning was her morning! At 7:14 am we had a great buck coming in, not chasing or anything. She knew it was time! Got him to stop at 33 yards and she took her shot! She sent the 295 grain power belt to the shoulder, not where she wanting to put it but the adrenaline was high! He went about 20 yards and fell over. He was not dead yet, sent another 295 grain to the neck and finished it. She was beyond excited and happy to hold out on the does to have this buck as her first deer! It is safe to say, she definitely has the bug now and we will get to have many more memories to make together!View attachment 253060View attachment 253062View attachment 253063
Awesome, congrats to your wife on a very nice buck !

My son and I had a great weekend of hunting. Passed on some decent bucks and watched alot of cool action. Chasing, fighting and all that goes along with this time of year. Passed on a 140 yards shot at this deer yesterday afternoon. Glad we did. He came back out at 88 yards this afternoon and my son smoked him. He was suoer excited and so was I. Only regret is he came out 10 minutes after we got in stand and I didn't have my video camera ready. I do have a mental video for a lifetime, though!!! It's getting good where we hunt. Looking forward to the weekend.

Went meat hunting this morning, freezer is empty.
Set up in a ladder stand on the edge of hardwoods and clear cut. Fog start to left around 0730. I caught movement to my left in the woods, 3 does were easing through the woods. I picked out the biggest and dropped her in her tracks. Happy with that I sit back in the seat and started reload the ML. I had just started pushing the sabot down when another deer walked up and it had horns. It was trying to figure why the doe was laying down and I was trying to reload quick but quietly since he was about 30 yards
beside me. Finally got reload and found him in the scope, he had started quartering away from me. Hit him just behind the right front leg and existed through his chest, fell where he stood.
Meigs county.
Buck - 8 points - 140 lbs live weight- 120 lbs dressed.
Doe - 120 lbs live weight- 90 lbs dressed.

If you all remember I have a father and son leasing and hunting with me. Father lives not to far from me and son lives south of Nashville. The bucks have been moving all over the place lately with this pre rut. Think he saw 3 bucks and 4 does this evening. Well the father killed a buck tonight with his crossbow. Little kicker on a brow tine makes 9 points. He is tickled pink since this is the first year he's ever hunted in KY. Last couple years he's hunted public in TN with his son.
