Wife's South Cherokee 3 point. She broke in my henry golden boy 44 mag with open sights! Shot was hard quartering away and exited thru opposite shoulder! Major accomplishment for her imo!
Major accomplishment to you......you found one of the good ones! There is one thing that every man should hope for and few will ever find, the girl who loves them, prepares the house for them but is available to sit beside them in the trench.

2nd sit, second deer. This was a fast season, I only keep one a year, the doe went to a coworker, and the other coworker didn't want one this year, so I'm done after this one,

Edit: Had forgotten to post that I actually recovered the bullet, first one in a while. He came down the usual path, which begins with them walking toward my stand from my right, but they normally turn to my left and give me a perfect side shot, which I usually go for the neck. But he got to the turn, and went right up the hill directly away from me doing almost a 180. Could not get a good humane shot on him and it was looking like he would just walk on out of view. But when he got to my back gate, he made a turn and gave me his side, so I went for the high shoulder shot to anchor him, and it was perfect, dropped in his tracks. At first I could not see where I had hit him as there was very little blood (most from his mouth), but it severed his spine so that slowed the bullet quite a bit, leaving the bullet just barely protruding from the opposite side. I will weigh it later to see what the retention was, but it looks quite high.

Cleaned off most of the meat; the bullet is about 50% inverted, that is the outside of the base in the "cup" that was formed by the jacket as the base kept pushing through.
