2024 Live from the stand

Sitting atop a mountain knob with a tiny plot and big scrape 20yds away. Enjoying the panoramic views of an endless sea of fall color. Makes me feel small.

Nothing good showing in dalight yet but this 6yr old bruiser was here at the scrape right before daylight this morning. Fingers crossed he's still nearby.

Great morning. All was quiet until 8:25 when I seen a small buck and doe. Then a little after 9 deer started showing up from everywhere.

At it again. Seen more deer than I have in a while at this spot this morning.

Second sit with my son, we saw some young bucks the first time, hopefully we see more deer! But it's ok if we don't, not expecting to at this age lol

With that being said, I borrowed PopPops crossbow in case a deer does show up within range, drawing a recurve with a 3 year old hanging off me wasn't the easiest thing to do last time

I can assure yall that we did NOT see any deer kiddo was super wiggly, after thinking about it, I figured I would just let him explore some and be a kid lol but everything in me wanted to make him sit down and be still

Edit: there was supposed to be a video of my son "sneaking" over to a nearby log and breaking off a stick then whacking small tree with it for some reason it won't load the video, it might be too large lol

Midday update is boring. Lol. Just ate lunch.

Heard deer above me and below me before daylight. Had a deer come by me about 40 yds right at shooting light but couldn't see it. Then had a small buck come under me not much later. Thought it was on but haven't seen a deer since. Not helping matters that I still have a weird cough after being sick 3 wks ago. Been eating cough drops but still had to cough a few times.

My son has seen 5 and had one come above him before daylight. I'm actually shocked that we haven't seen more but just need to see one.

Would prefer the wind to be a different direction but sitting in a funnel that they can come from any direction.

Guess I'm here til dark or one of us shoots one.

Haven't seen anything yet. Most of the leaves are gone around my place.
Heard some bucks fighting earlier.
I saw an armadillo on the walk in this morning, contemplated shooting it.

Tried a new technique today!

On a serious note, I have on more than one occasion made a lot of noise on the way to the stand in the afternoon, then hit the grunt call, only to have bucks come looking. Killed a few that way.
