2024 Live from the stand

It's a long way out there.

From Saturday 12/14. What a beautiful morning. Took the 3/4 mile bypass to the stand. Slipped into my stand about an hour before legal light. Only saw 1 doe until my cell cam went off (200 yds away). Nice buck and he was chasing a doe. Figured they'd make their way to me and I'd get a cool video. Never did. They went below on other side of hill and she blew. My wind was going that way. Oh well, wasn't going to shoot him with gun, only camera. I waited to see if they might stroll by but no. I decided to bleat as wind died down. Waited about 5 mins and heard a noise behind me. Kinda exposed on that side so I slowly looked that way. Caught sight of bone and pretty nice body. From the side he resembled one I was wanting to shoot. He was feet from cutting my wind so I had to make a decision. I did. He was not the one I thought he was (and not the one from my cell cam) but he will eat well. Peperjack brats is what I ordered..lol... Shot did the job. He went about 10 yds digging a ditch as he moved. He was dead before he moved (see heart). Was fun as it always is!

Congratulations on a nice buck brother.

Any sightings or trail cam pics of the buck that you shot at during rifle season?
Haven't seen him in person or on camera since. Which worries me he may have been hit and died later on. I looked for buzzards daily and walked my woods and creek real good the weekend after rifle closed and didn't find him. Lots of hunting pressure around so he may have gotten killed by someone else, who knows.
