Well after working with the little gun and getting comfortable with it I got to bust a head with it.

Killed turkey #3 yesterday morning.

21.5lbs
10" beard
7/8" spurs

Gun 870 28 gauge with 26" special order rem-choke barrel. Rem "special full" choke
FIOCHI golden pheasant #5 shot at 1300fps

29 yards--DRT

pics later when I get the home computer back up. It sorta died the other day.....

Is it hard to find turkey ammo for your 28 ga? How many ounces of shot in a round and how long is the 28 ga round?

The W-W 1 ounce HS load will work as well as the Fiochi golden pheasant. Either is fine out to 40 yards. reflex264

I got home in time to shoot a buddies turkey gun yesterday. He has a 1187 with the factory turkey choke. His load is the Fed 2oz #6 with the flight control wad. He missed two turkeys, both right at 50 yards. I shot his gun at 35 yards and only put 3 killing hits on a turkey target. I got the 28ga out and actualy was 3 yards farther back and put 11 killing hits on the turkey target. I am going to call him shortly to see if he has any other chokes but right this second I would take the 28ga over that 12 ga.reflex264
