Campaigning a new rifle/caliber this year…Ruger Ranch Gen II .400 Legend …I have killed several with a .350 Legend which I like a lot…excellent performance…figured this would be even more of a good thing…the larger bore, lower velocity, less jelly makers are perfect for woods deer hunting imo…shoots 'ok'…about 2" at 100 thus far…satisfactory…we shall see…hopefully…💥

Exact setup my buddy had me searching for this summer when I was out West. He was hoping I would run across that exact make/model/caliber, but I never did. I think he eventually ordered one here in TN.

I've wanted a 350 didn't even know about the 400. What about the 450 bushmaster. Almost went that direction also. I guess the 400 would be right in the middle of those 2.

I had the same dilemma and chose the one with most readily available ammo. I just looked around both here in TN and near my place in OH to see how easy it would be to get ammo OTC. The 350 was EVERYWHERE so that's what I got. Lots of choices and easy to get.

Yep thats what drove my pick, during 2020 that was the only ammo that was available everywhere you looked!!

Do they offer the Ruger Ranch WITHOUT the external protruding magazine? Never been a fan of that on any rifle.

No idea but I'm not a fan either. Mine sticks down too far for me to like it, but it's a really nice utility rifle otherwise and that makes cosmetic stuff secondary, IMO. Time will tell once I begin hunting with it. Where that goofy clip sits is right where the gun balances and where i like to hold it. But the clip is in the way so it's awkward. Ergonomics matter.

I am 2 weeks into my 350 Legend ownership. Bought a Savage. love the short barrel. I'm holding .5" at 100 with Winchester 180 Grain. Great lil Rifle. Hope to see how it does on Deer in the coming weeks.

That is the make/model I am eyeing, strictly because it was recommended above by a great source, and it does not have protruding magazine. Also be a great gun to run one of my cans on. Thanks for sharing your experience to date, much appreciated.
