acceptable group size.

Golf ball sized groups at 40....and you're questioning it? You really do have OCD tendencies don't you? :D j/k

That size group should only be questioned if the group is 4" away from what you're shooting at.

What would you consider a acceptable group size at 40yds? I'm getting golf ball sized groups but I feel my form isn't as good as it should be
consistent golf ball sized groups at 40 is world champion level .

I say I go between gold ball size and tennis ball size I don't know if its my form or the peep rotation I'm getting or what
your kidding right ?

I'm not talkin about your peep sight or string stretch, besides those strings shouldn't stretch at all unless you bake them in a hot car . A tennis ball is smaller than the 40 yd fita Bullseye , if you are shooting inside a 6.7 cm circle consistently at 40 , I wouldn't worry about it .

I'll shoot a couple groups tomorrow and see what they measure out to be and post pics.
not doubting you , just trying to get you to realize how good your group is , and to be satisfied lol I think you will be fine .

Really? Oh, I just ran a 5 minute mile, but I just got done eating mexican, and I was wearing crocs. Is that good?

1" @ 10, 2" @ 20, and so on is what I consider "par."

Bowhunter163 is dead on the money. If you are shooting golf ball size groups CONSISTENTLY at 40 yards, you need to quit your day job, pay the Pro entry fee for 2014 and go shoot every major national archery tournament that there is. If your shooting is what you say it is, then you will have bow and accessory manufacturers standing in line, wanting you to sign on for their ProStaff team and you'll be cashing in some big contingency money checks every big shoot. And I ain't being the first hint of sarcastic. I'm drop dead serious.

If nothing else, come shoot Known 45 class in ASA...all known yardage, max distance of 45 yards. Most are in the 25-35 yard range...which is well within your wheelhouse yardage range. That kind of shooting should land you in the money most of the time...their checks are about $600 for the weekend, plus contingency on top of that. Elite pays $1,000 contingency for 1st and $500 for 2nd...so if you got an Elite bow this year, you could go have it paid for with one shoot...and then the rest of the yr is money in the bank. There are 5 ASA Pro/Am shoots within about 4-5 hrs drive of you this coming yr. Take advantage. If I shot like that, I sure would be! Heck I don't shoot like that...unless it's a 1 arrow group at 40...and I still try.

That's the plan :) I can't consistently shoot a golfball size group at 40 though so I'm gonna be in trouble if any of these dudes show up. :D

Exactly! Maybe he at least do us the honor of letting us know in advance which class K45 or OC he plans on shooting so we can plan accordingly. Darn rookies screwing up everything! :)

Wow back when I shot all the time I could do that. Golf ball size at 40 is good. I used to shoot my buddies for cokes and if you couldn't put in the heart everytime from inside 40 u lost. But I shot most everyday back then.

If I get softball size groups at 40 i think I am doing great . If I shot Golfball size groups I'd be on tv making a living at it .

Seriously I am doing good to be in the red on 6inch target at 40 yards I have dead center a lot of times but my groups are 6 to 8 inches this guy to give me some shooting lessons or give me his bow one which I just got a newer bow this year and its a lot different feel from my last bow

But seriously doooode you have been hanging out in OC and sand bagging for quite sometime! LOL!

Who was you talking to Dixie Crafter? You quoted 3 different folks. haha. I've never shot O.C. before so it will be my first go. I don't even have an "open" setup yet. I have the sight but nothing else. I don't see how folks can be a sand bagger these days. The classes have a low winout bar...a podium finish would nearly seal the deal and require a move up...or shooting in top 15 in two or three shoots, never even get on the podium, and that would do it too. I don't know why a person would choose to go to a national shoot and intentionally shoot bad. It's a lose/lose doing that. Hopefully I will be in K45 next. There's some awesome shooting going on in that class. I'm gonna get my feet wet in open class first and see how it goes. I can already tell ya that I hate the target sight with lens. I may be shooting Open with fixed pins.
