Hmmmm. I wonder how that works. I live in Carter County and can literally walk into the National Forest. They are no even going to come close to here for clean-up of any kind.
Same here I am in Unicoi and can walk to the national forest from my property. Are they just saying the roads are closed or the entire property?

I know the roads are closed. I haven't heard if North CNF is totally shut down though. Gonna be some pizzed off bear hunters in a couple of weeks.

now I wonder if it's all closed I seen Greene county was on the list. Feds must have shut it all down. And nobody will have an answer most likely if it's the entire forest. Who can a man call to find out.
They did this in parts of Va that wasn't even hit by the storm. We flooded the congressman and senator. They did get parts reopened for us that was not affected.

It's just dumb to shut the whole thing down. I understand shutting access roads, but I literally walk up and hunt right below the line and up into the lower portion.

The forest is huge why would they not just close areas that need to be. Oh well so much for hunting season over there this year. It's about all we have of any size in Northeast TN to hunt.

If I lived near the North Cherokee, and that was my main area for deer hunting, think I would consider just buying a KY non-resident license and hunting the Daniel Boone National Forest rather than South Cherokee.

The only thing I can come up with is their staff is heavily involved in rescue/recovery efforts and there are large areas of the forest that were affected too with downed trees and slides, maybe? Dont want people in there getting in a bad way with nobody at all able to come help them?

I saw that as well and I am a resident in the area so I am good to go in my backyard. Also, I live not far from the office in Unicoi and the parking lot is full of staff that are working to help clear out the affected area. They also said even if a location was not in the flood area there is also a lot wind damage and washed out roads that they don't want people on. They had also been working on accessing remote areas to make sure hikers and people at remote campgrounds were not stuck or trapped in those areas.
