Alabama vs Michigan

At least TN did have Sampson and was able to run the ball to a degree. I may be mistaken, but Bama hasn't had much of a run game (not counting QB) in a few years it seems. With the recruiting that Bama has consistently had, how is that possi
I think a lot of it is Milroe keeps the ball instead of handing it off. Running backs seem to get better as the game goes and the more carries they get. Milroe takes up most of the running plays and they don't get enough carries. IMHO

Deboer was not a successful leader this year at Alabama. He didn't display the required courage to replace struggling players and lacked control of his players on the field. His particiapative leadership style resulted with a 9 / 4 season. Some have argued the 9 wins must be credited to Saban's left over talent.

He may be a fine young man, but Milroe is not capable of QB success in the NFL. Please review Bama's 4 losses for evidence. How many times did we see receivers holding their hands up in disgust after plays today?

The April transfer portal will be interesting to watch. Many receivers and running backs recently left the team for better opportunities. While some were financial decisions, I believe other players lost faith in obtaining success with this QB, Coaching staff, and offensive scheme.

Fortunately, I've lived through these struggles before and will patiently wait for the system to make corrections.

Roll Tide
I agree with most of this. I thought he could have done things better but I'm just coaching from the couch. Milroe is definitely not a qb.
I'm definitely ready to move onto 2025. I'm glad it's New Year's Eve. 😂

I think with a different qb this season would be a completely different story.
The coaching staff has left me scratching my head multiple times this season. I haven't seen anything to give me a lot of confidence in them. Maybe some changes are coming and DeBoer will get his offense completely installed with a quarterback who can run it. Beat most of the good teams they played and lost more to the not-so-good teams; outcoached in prep and adjustments several times.
Going for it on 4th down on the first drive set the stage for the loss. That was coaches call and it was a bad one.

That's pretty much the design around a "running QB" I think. Whether they can't pass or it's just an offensive scheme to run the QB more bc they're more of a running back, they build the offense around them. I've seen it with pretty much all the teams that want the "dual threat" QB. Rarely does a QB stand out as both a passer and a runner, they're out there, but just not too common. All that said, I think Michigan will do much better next season. I'm not sure about Bama, honest assessment. 👍🏻

Another thing that isn't mentioned, and I think it applies a lot to TNs struggles at QB this year as well, is OLine play. When the QB KNOWS that he will be pressured, he becomes gun shy. Then when they don't get pressured, it's like they can't go through the progressions quickly enough.

That's pretty much my take as well. Plus, the playbook on stopping Alabama's offense was to sellout on stopping the run and putting pressure on Milroe by loading the box and blitzing from various directions. The offensive line underachieved at times as well.

A new quarterback and maybe new offensive coordinator and offensive line coach are in order for next season.

Not sure why you play Milroe in a bottom feeding game? Not only did bama still lose with him, but his draft stock dropped even more. I guess it's good to see a player actually wanting to play in a 7 win bowl game, but bama would have been better off giving the back up QB meaningful reps.

I wish they had planned to let Milroe start and put the backup quarterback in at some point rather early. After the game started, they should have put the other quarterback in for a couple of series even if it was unplanned to see if he could generate some offense. It is likely that next year's quarterback will have very little real game experience.

Milroe's 3 early turnovers dug a hole in a defense heavy game.

Milroe has too many "tells". Watch his feet prior to the snaps. If they are offset, 99% of the time, it is a pass play. If his feet are even, 99% of the time it is a run. I've noticed for some reason he doesn't hook his chin strap on pass plays either. I know Jack diddly about reading plays but even I picked up on that. If I did, I know others did too.
