APP is now producing powder again after their plant explosion.
The powder with the original APP label is available for purchase from the following outfits:
bulletsbyscarett.com, lg-outdoors.com and wholesalehunter.com.

It's also being sold under the Shooters World label @ grafs.com as Shooters World Multi-Purpose Black FFF Sulfurless Powder. (This Black Powder substitute is made in America for Shooters World by American Pioneer Powder).

I'm posting where to buy it because it will take awhile before stores start selling it again.

Jedediah Starr and Jade-Inc.org also has APP in stock.

APP has also started making .50 round pellets instead of only the square powder sticks.
The pellets are for sale at LG Outdoors: --->>> https://www.lg-outdoors.com/Product/Details/5836883?fs=1

I use APP 3F in my Remington C&B revolver exclusively.
The more that the powder is compressed, the higher the velocity.
It produces a lot of smoke but is very easy to clean.
I'll swab the barrel after 40 -50 shots with a mineral oil patch, but no lube is needed over the chambers to keep the bore clean like with black powder.
After shooting the revolver, using mineral oil and washing it helps to dissolve most all of the residue from the inside of the frame without needing to take it all apart which saves me a lot of time and effort.
Then using more mineral oil after washing helps to insure that any little bit of leftover residue inside the gun will be dissolved and become harmless.
Many BP shooters pack their gun with synthetic grease to not need to take it apart which makes washing it impossible.
Because APP 3F weighs about 22% less than Goex 3F, that means less creosote and residue is produced by it, plus it doesn't have sulfur which also creates more fouling.
APP's unique formula, gives it different fouling characteristics.

I tried APP when it first came out as Clean Shot.
I started using it in an inline that uses a #11 cap and haven't switched powders since.
I use different powders in different guns., some get Pyrodex P, some get 777 and others get APP.
The way that I look at it, every powder has some advantages and disadvantages.

Sounds logical Sun .... too bad they won't work in a flintlock. Wobbly... lol

APP does work as the main charge in some flintlocks by only using BP to prime the pan, and not as a booster charge in a duplex load.
There's a fellow on youtube who loaded American Pioneer Powder 3F into the bore of his India made flintlock and using Goex 4F in the pan, he fired 10 shots without a misfire.

The caption for the video states: "Trying out some new powder, touted as a clean burning black powder substitute. I've read a huge difference of opinion about this powder, and several people flatly state that it will NOT work in a flintlock.
Well, here you have it. I fired 10 shots of varying powder charge, all lead ball, and not one misfire or failure to discharge. I think the FFFg is the right choice, the grain size is bigger than regular black powder, so having the FFFg probably helped with ignition here. Also, prime the pan with NORMAL black powder, it's not a big deal and doesn't make a big mess.
Clean up was a breeze and nearly zero fouling. Very happy."

The next 9 second video was posted by the same fellow 2 days later.

The caption states: "This is I think the 8th shot out of the musket without swabbing, cleaning or lube of any kind.
After 15 shots the barrel still looked 'brand new', this powder seems consistent and reliable, not a single misfire that day.
....also at 20 paces we hit the crock-pot every time.. .71 lead ball with paper cartridge wadding."

I was very surprised to see that the APP worked.
Someone suggested that the India Bess must have an extra large vent hole.
Folks have said that APP is usually unreliable in flintlocks,, but perhaps extra priming powder provides enough ignition for some other flintlocks to fire.
I would like to hear if others have ever experienced the same type of success in flintlocks with it.
I already know from one flintlock shooter who posted extensive chrony velocity testing and accuracy results that a 5 grain booster charge will reliably ignite a main charge of Pyrodex and 777.
He had some custom flinters that had quality features and workmanship.
He would simply top off his powder measure with the 5 grains of black powder to make the duplex load and drop it into the bore together at the same time as a single load.
And the gent who posted as Herb on the MLF claimed that by doing it that way, the black powder would drop close enough to the vent to create ideal enough conditions for ignition.
And to top it off, he claimed that he never had a misfire after loading and firing many thousands of rounds of these sub. powder duplex loads.
It;'s simply amazing that his flinters were that reliable.
Although he did use custom sized .30 -06 cases as fixed powder measures.
But I think that he also used an adjustable one at times.
And he also did the testing to benefit others so that they would know that it could be done, and that they could enjoy the benefits of using sub, powders knowing how their vielocities and consistencies compared to loading Goex black powder.
He must have really enjoyed shooting his flinters over a chronograph and posting his targets as detailed public records.
