I know VERY few people with beagles anymore. I'm lucky if I get to make one rabbit hunting trip a year nowadays, but yesterday was that day. We jumped five, but dogs had a tough time. We scored on two of the five. I was most excited that my friend, Elisha (pictured right), scored on his very first rabbit hunt ever!

My grandson (soon to turn four) was too young to go along, but he did observe closely as Pops (that's me) skinned and dressed the rabbit. His Mom was surprised he didn't cry and want to have a funeral for it. 😅 But he was cool with it and understood it was going to become "food."

If anyone in Southeast Tennessee ever wants an extra gun along before season's end, hit me up. ;)

Update on my trip today. I need some beagles lol. We had 9 races killed 8 and let one get in a hole. These were without a doubt the best beagles I've ever hunted with. They even retrieved. Once one sounded off the other 4 were coming to it. I sure do miss the old days. Pic is son and his first 2 rabbits

I do enjoy good beagles, wish I liked eating them or knew someone to take them.

Brother get you some beagles and just pleasure run! It ain't always about the kill! I love cutting the dogs loose on a cool summer morning or late evening and listening to them go. There is a bunch of people who own packs but won't kill a rabbit all year unless the dogs catch one.

Eight out of nine! That's impressive!
