Friend shot his first deer two days ago. It had a huge body and a rack that may throw off the estimate off, so I'll post it later. How old do you think it is?

4.5 from the textbook, I lean toward 5.5 though as cementum seems to underage. At 6.5 you always seem to see the flattening of molars. The cementum is plenty wide to justify 5.5 just not the wear. If I'm wrong blame Dr. John Copeland former wildlife biology professor LMU. My wife agreed and made better grades than me in that program.

Thanks for all of the replies. I don't have the best pictures but the mass on this 7pt is impressive, and the G2s are really long. He just won't score high, which is totally ok for him (and me too). Body was very impressive.

On another note, the 270 win with 130gr NBTs performed flawlessly by dropping him in his tracks, yet stayed together on a hard-quartering shot, ending up just inside the offside hide. Held together better than I expected. He's thrilled with the whole experience, but also the good amount of meat that he got off of this big buck
