After taking my daughter to school this morning, I returned home to find 4 bucks in our food plot...still sporting their antlers. Two of them were very nice.
I've seen bucks still carrying their antlers into mid-April. Everything depends on when the new set starts growing, which is mid to late April in many parts of TN.
I probably don't know as much as yall know, but it seems to vary yearly. I have seen hard antlered bucks in mid april, as well as bucks that have nubs already during mid April.
I turkey hunt regularly and haven't found the first shed yet this year, and still having trail cam bucks.
They must be alot different where I am at, it doesn't surprise me to see them with antlers this time of year.
Depends on their overall health after the rut and how fast they can recover before winter kills all the forage .if your deer can keep the belly full through winter they will drop late
