Okay, here is my problem. I have been shooting the Easton Axis FMJ's in 300 spine. I have 6 left and because of my unemployment I really can't justify another dozen.

So, I can either start the season with the 6 I have. Or, switch to some aluminum shafts in either 2613 or 2317 to hunt with. They all three shoot well. The FMJ's and the 2613's weigh just about the same and have the same spine. The 2317's are about the same in spine, but weigh more. They are way tougher than the FMJ's or the 2613's.

The dilemna is which to set up to hunt with? I have 3-4 dozen of both the 2317's and the 2613's.
Here is a photo taken today. These groups were shot at 50 yards, with my bow setup for the FMJ's. The 2317's are the orange crested arrows with the white fletches, I shot those with my 60 yard pin on the orange dot (that is why they are a little higher). The 2613's are Blazer fletched and shot using my 50 yard pin.

So which ones should I use for hunting?

Paradis, thanks but in the interest of full disclosure there was a third 2317 that I pulled before taking the picture. It was a called flyer. So I did choke on one of these.

WTM, that is interesting that you shoot the large diameter, thin wall shaft but you recommend I go with the thick wall. Why?

A larger diameter thin walled shaft can be lighter than a thick walled aluminum shaft while maintaining proper spine tolerance for a particular setup .
When I shot aluminum arrows , I always referred to the Easton arrow selection chart to compare arrow spine and weights . I shot 2413's for years .
Shoot what you shoot best with your setup . ;)

i shot 2315's for years and then switched to the 2512 xx78 ultralites for the speed and a little better shaft. but looking back, it may be just me, but the smaller OD arrow seemed to penetrate a lot better, but then that arrow had a lot more mass to it also. i want to switch to carbon one of these days but still have 4 dozen to use up.

like Radar said, choose what shoots best for you.

I shoot arrows 31 inches long @ 76lbs. with 125 grain heads. So all three shafts are on the charts from Easton. I like the thick walled shafts (for strength) but I like the lighter shafts for the flatter trajectory. But for hunting I shoot 30yards and in so I will get me some wraps for the 2317's and some blazers for fletching them and go heavy.
